Does my dog need to be registered for agility?

My Sheltie's mom is AKC registered, but her dad is UKC and supposedly now she can't be registered...? I didn't pick her out for any kind of showing, but for her personality. I still plan to train agility, but I don't know if she would be allowed to compete? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Oh, lol!! Not at all! AKC registration is needed for the beauty contest, but NOT needed AT ALL for talent!
Mutts are free to join in!! Agility is about TALENT and we don't care if your dog's head is shaped 'just so', ha ha, nor who is his mother was.

You WILL usually have to present info that your dog is healthy, and up to date on vaccines, etc. This will vary from one competition to another, so call ahead and ask. There are often registration*** fees and deadlines, too.

(***i mean registration for the contest itself, not the dog, haha!)

Do google your town's name + word "agility" to locate your local clubs to join in.

Also, be aware, most vets advise most pups to NOT be doing high jumping until they are almost 2 years old, so DO ask your vet her opinion on such a matter.

BEST OF LUCK AND GOOD ON YOU FOR TRAINING YOUR DOG!! I wish MORE ppl realized the absolute joy--both to the human, and to the dog,
of agility and of even just Training a dog!!

I think your dog can compete in AKC events, but you do have to fill out some forms with AKC to be able to compete. You can look this up on the AKC web sight.
