Yes, is you don't trim his dewclaw the claw can actually curl around and puncture the pad and cause an infection or worse. Most dogs have them taken off when their a few days old but if your dog still has them than they should be trimmed as often as needed.

Not unless it is injured. When the dewclaw is cut, it is usually done when the puppy is only a few days old.
The nail on the dew-claw is supposed to be trimmed just as the other nails though.

O yes. The dew claw is the one that always seems to grow so long and quickly that if you dont cut it it more easily will grow into the pad/foot and cause a bad and painful infection so keep as short as you can like the rest of the nails.

You cut the dew claw when you cut all of the other nails. Just watch carefully to avoid the quick. I've seen dogs bleed profusely from having their nails cut too short. If by chance that does ever happen..dipping the nail in flour and then vaseline helps slow up the bleeding.

YES, trim the dewclaw! My dogs claws are SO sharp, but the dewclaw is the sharpest!
They are the easiest nails to use a nail grinder on too.
