Desperate for help with hives and bloating pleaseee :(

My dog has been having hive outbreaks constantly for almost 6 days now, her coat is full of fluid and shes throwing up occasionally ( only when she isnt on benadryl ). We;ve been giving her 75 mg of benadryl every 6 to 8 hrs. Shes been to the vet 3 times, ehr blood work is normal. Shes an 80 pound german shephard.
Her appetite is normal and shes drinking tons of water.

Im at my wits end, nobody can help us, the vet gave her steroids which arent helping at all, he doesnt know whats wrong! she isnt getting better, im terrified and am desperate for anyones help. NOTHING has changed, not her diet, her environment, no new chemicals or shampoo etc. changes. im assuming she got bit by something. shes almost 9 yrs old and has never had anytihng like this happen before.

Please anyone who can help me id be so grateful :(

What are you feeding her? I would still try to switch her food. Food allergies often aren't like they are with humans where there is a sudden reaction, but with dogs they build up over time.

poor baby, same thing happened to us, no changes, no chance anyone could have fed him, hives, bloating , etc. we spent a lot of money and a lot of time at the vet trying to figure out what had happened. my thor was bit by a snake on the tail last summer, and no reaction, even stung numerous times and no hives reaction, so i couldnt figure it out, the vet thought that something may have been thrown on his skin to cause the rash, his was hives, with like a scald rash on top. poor baby, makes me sad to remember, he was in so much pain. we had given him a bath two days prior to the vet trip, he was fine, same shampoo we had been using for three years, but we threw it out because that was the only thing we had done different, was bathe him close to the break out. we didnt realize what actually happened until i found the brush full of dog hair, my daughter brushed him the day we bathed him and when the shampoo was applied it caused a reaction. i hope you find a solution soon, good luck 2 u.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry!! I'm not sure what to do but maybe suggest that you get another opinion? sometimes seeing another vet allows them to give you new ideas for what the problem could be!! Goodluck to both of you I hope your doggy feels better very soon!

I too am so sorry about what you and your dog are going through. How sad and frustrating that must be. The only suggestion I have is what someone else already suggested... is trying another Vet. I am sorry I know that is expensive and frustrating and I can understand what you both must be going through. I hope you find an answer and a solution really fast. Best of luck!!

Are you sure your dog has not found something outside and is eating it? My JRT broke out in hives, but it cleared up after I took her to work and the vet I work for gave her some steroids. I didn't think she had gotten into anything either, but the more I gave it thought I think I know generally what she had eaten. At the time we had a pet squirrel who would knock food out her cage. We had acorns all over, bits of various vegetables, and other odds and ends. I'm pretty sure she ate one of these foods we were feeding the squirrel by licking it off the ground.

It is possible for a dog to become allergic to something that has been in it's environment. I've always heard that in order to be allergic to something you have to be exposed to it at least twice. I hope you find out what it is! good luck!
