Could my puppy be shedding her puppy coat?

I have a labrador poddle cross (labradoodle). However she is a backcross (labradoodle x poodle). She currently sheds quite alot but she has curly hair on the tops of her ears and around her neck whilst the rest of her body is covered in straight hair. My mother hates shedding and I was just wondering if this is her shedding her puppy coat or if this will happen all throughout her life. If this is a permanent trait is there anything we can do to minimise the shedding? In addition she is 3 months old. [You may have seen a question with the same content but i forgot to add how old she was :)]

Well i would think that she is to young to shed her puppy coat but then again i could be wrong i have never had a lab or a poodle if she is shedding her puppy coat a lot of brushing should minimize it i do know that labs do shed quiet a bit actually just brush your dog once or twice a day and you dont really have to worry about the shedding, shedding comes with a lot of dogs and cats you can never really get away from it good luck with your Labradoodle!

Your dog is part Labrador. Labradors shed. It's quite possible your dog will always be a shedder. My friend has a labradoodle, he sheds a lot. If moderate to severe shedding was a deal-breaker, you should have looked for a purebred poodle.

That aside, feeding a high-quality diet, regular brushing, and proper health care will help minimize the shedding. You can also volunteer to vacuum the house every day to keep your mother's home clean.

I answered your first question, but I would like to add that puppy coat changeover doesn't normally happen until 8 to 10 months in a small breed like a toy or mini poodle, even later in a larger breed like a lab or standard poodle.
It sounds to me like you are another victim of the hype that all things doodle do not shed. Sorry, but it just isn't true.
As I said in my other answer, ALL dogs shed, while the amount and type of hair shed can vary, the only way any hair renews itself is by constant shedding out the old hair. Long haired dogs like poodles and those types do not leave clumps of hair as the shed hair becomes tangled in the remaining hair and forms matts. This is why brushing is so necessary.
By your description, it sounds like your girl has pretty much inherited the straighter, more coarse hair of her lab ancestors, that shed hair will be deposited throughout your house instead of stay in the curly hair.
Brushing daily will help, but there will still be shedding.
