CHOOSING A BREED OR MIX
I'd like to help my brother find a medium sized, low maintenance, low shed dog. My brother is fairly fit, reasonably active, sole income earner and caregiver to his wife who has MS. She CAN walk, but with difficulty, and drags one leg. Previous dogs have been poodles, but they now want something less energetic and possibly slower moving. Can you suggest a breed or mix that might be suitable? I suggested looking at a rescue Greyhound, as I'm told they are quite placid in the house, or, (from my own experience,) a King Charles mix. I know all dogs are "individuals" but some characteristics are "general" to certain breeds. They have a house with a decent-sized, fenced, back yard

You might want to consider taking them both to a dog rescue organization and have them spend some time with different dogs. Like humans dogs even if they are the same breed have vastly different personalities. Try several different breeds or mixes to find one that fits both your family members personalities and needs. You can also as shelter representatives for breed advice.
