cantaloupe?

My 7 pound dog ate a small slice of cantaloupe that accidentally fell on the floor. So far she seems okay. Is cantaloupe bad for dogs like grapes and raisins? And are there any long-term ill effects, like damage to the kidneys?

I bet he really liked the cantaloupe! Cantaloupe is fine! My babies eat almost any kind of fruit and veggie. My dogs would rather have fruits and veggie over doggie cookies.

Actually, Cantaloupe is an excellent diuretic. It also have vitamins that will increase a dogs immune system.

As far as I know, cantaloupe isn't toxic to dogs.

It is good to be concerned, though, just in case, but I think your dog will more than likely just be fine.

Since your dog is so small, she might have a loose stool from the fruit, but I wouldn't panic. I don't think there's anything wrong with cantaloupe.

BUT, you should check with your vet to get the 100% official okay on cantaloupe.

:-)

As long as your pup doesn't eat a lot of seeds from the cantaloupe, she she be fine. Whenever we get cantaloupe or watermelon I give Xena a couple of small pieces. With most foods that are toxic to dogs, the dog has to eat quite a bit before they would experience any serious effects, but some foods are toxic even in small amounts. Luckily, cantaloupe is not one of those foods :)

No way! Its fine for dogs! No raisins, grapes, onions, and of course chocolate. Dogs can eat many fruits and veges even blueberries or strawbereies! Sweet potato and butternut are great also. Jack eats mostly people food since the recall. He hasnt had any problems with anything. Fried food messes up his tummy a little and he wont touch it. For his Bday on Tuesday Im making a carrot cake!

A bit of cantaloupe should be fine. I've even seen my vet give a slice of cantaloupe to a dehydrated dog along with its fluids. Since your pup is a little one She might get a little runny stool from it.
