my black laborder retriever has black spots on his tongue, is he all lab or is chow in there

You can post a picture of him, if you would like. Then some of us could give a guess! Howard is part Chow, I think he has some black spots on his tounge!

I know of quite a few purebred dogs (that aren't Chows) with black-spotted tongues. Including my GSD. It's not a Chow-only thing.

the only 2 breeds to have ALL BLACK (BLUE) tongues are the chow and sharpei, but any dog purebred or otherwise can have spots on their tongues!! please do open an account and post pictures of ur lab. then repost this same question, or one like it, with the pics.

The idea that only Chows can have black on their tongue is a myth. Only Chows and Sharpeis have SOLID black tongues, but ANY dog can have black spotting on the tongue, including Labs. Having black spotting on the tongue is NOT the sign of a chow cross. Again, it's a myth -- he can most certainly be purebred Lab with black spotting.
