can an 8 year old dog get pregnant and if so what are the health concerns?

They can at any age, but it is not recommended past the age of 7 because it's harder on the female after that.
If you are asking because you want to breed, then please educate yourself on the ethics, breeding, your dog's breed, and dogs in general for several years and find a good reputable mentor.
Breeding for any reason other than to keep the breed healthy is wrong.

You shouldn't make your dog have puppies at that age. That's like having a baby when you are 63! I don't think you would like that very much. Don't put your dog through that.

An 8 yr. old dog can get pregnant but shouldn't be bred at that age especially without ofa's & health clearances!
