Boxador on a diet

I just adopted a Boxador and hes about 11 months to a year old. They still had him on puppy chow and he didnt get much attention or exercise and was kind of fat. Ive been walking him about 2 miles 5 days a week and switched him adult food and in about 3 weeks hes lost about 15 lbs maybe more. Is this healthy for him to loose weight so quickly or be so small? You cant see the outline of each rib but the last one is very pronounced.

Feed a better dog food, a grain free dog food would be best. Look into feeding Orijen, Acana, Fromm, Taste of the Wild, Canidae Grain Free, Timberwolf Organics, SoJos, Evo, Earthborn or Merrick instead of Puppy Chow.

Puppy Chow is a horrible brand of dog food filled with fillers.

If he was overweight, it's good that he's loosing weight. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong with him.

It's not healthy for anyone to drop weight so fast. Put a call into your vet and upgrade foods. Natural Choice has a new teenage large breed life stage variety called "Young Adult" for dogs ages 6 months to 2 years. It would be a great transition food. Puppy Chow does contain by-products, artificial colors etc.... you can do better. When switching, remember that you have to wean in the new food over the course of a week or the dog might get icky poop, and only change one thing at a time (food, then treats). Congrats on your new friend! ^_^
