Belgian Shepherd Groenendael
I have read multiple articles which talk about how the BSG sheds heavily only twice per year. When exactly are these two sheddings supposed to happen?

The Belgian shepherds shed heavily during summer time and winter. Extra coat care is needed during these time of the year.

Please bear in mind, he will shed..a lot...every day of the year. Blowing coat happens twice, at the times the PP mentioned..but it can take days to fully get the undercoat out.
BSGs are a lot of dog..so shedding should only be a minor consideration when getting one. They are not a dog for novice owners. Please research carefully & prepare for 3 years of exasperation before he matures.

Wiley is quite right about the Belgian.
They are a double coated dog and will shed all year long. How badly they blow their coat also depends on how often you bathe & brush the dog out.
