Anyone have a "Prapso"?

I've been trying to get some detailed information on Prapsos and possibly find an owner of one. I have emailed several different Lhasa Apso breeders to get more information, but they ALL ignored my emails, which doesn't surprise me from reading about Prapsos and how ashamed breeders are when one pops up in a litter.

(A Prapso is a genetically "poor" Lhasa Apso

Thanks for your time!

I guess if I got an email from someone inquiring about a prapso and they called it a genetically poor lhasa I would not be answering, either. Any research I have done on them does not refer to them as genetically "poor". They are considered a throwback to some of the dogs originally bred to create the lhasa, and are no different than black and tan labradors or parti poodles or fluffy corgis or rotties... it is a recessive gene and responsible breeders are going to stay away from those lines that carry that gene, since, while still healthy and otherwise normal, these coat issues hiding behind MANY breeds are disqualifications within the breed standards and are thus not desired nor bred for when breeding to improve ones lines, which is what responsible, dedicated breeders are attempting to do.

Hi i have just come to the conclusion we have a Prapso puppy after weeks of wondering why she looked (odd)if thats what you would call her ! she is feather haired and got little feet and her ears were standing up until earlier this week . she looks very slim boned but she weighs a massive 8lbs now , she dosent look as odd as some pictures i have seen of other Prapsos and dosent have all the other traits i must say she is lovely lovely lovely and is coming on fine with her housetraining and luckily we bought her as a pet and dont want to use her for breeding ! when we took her to be vet checked the vet thought she was some kind of croos breed so i got back in touch with the breeder we got her from and was assured she is pure breed . Either the breeder was not too experienced or was keeping it from us that she is a PRAPSO nevertherless we love her like we love our other "normal" lhasa apso

I have a prapso. She is a beautiful smooth coat Lhasa. Mostly red with some black on the shoulder/back area and a white bib. She has finer hair on her ear area that looks crimped and finer tuffs of hair on her back legs and feet which I keep trimmed.

Hi,
I know this is a little "late," but I have an eleven month old Prapso pup--a Shih Tzu Prapso. Breeders ARE ashamed of Prapsos and consider them a genetic mutation. However, if I had my way, Prapsos would be a breed of their own! They are the most amazing little dogs! Bright, loving, happy, loyal, friendly,
intelligent, easy to groom (no shedding and no need for trips to the groomer to cut hair and put those little annoying top notches on the top of their heads)! They are everything I want in a dog! My little girl, Sophie, is the best little dog ever! I have tried and tried to find another Prapso, but no one will acknowledge having them...Enjoy your sweet dog and his/her many strengths! (If you hear of anyone having another that they are looking for a family for, please let me know!!!)
