A diagnosis of polycythemia with possible pyelonephritis

8 year old red heeler that is lethargic, depressed, and occasionally vomits. Extremely red eyes and gums also. His HCT-75.9, RBC-12.71, BUN-29, and CREA-2.6. The vet has him on antibotics for two more weeks, and then he will possibly perform a phlebotomy. Is there a test that will measure the amount of erythropoietin he is producing to determine the type of polycythemia?
