This is where Hundeo steps in to provide a slew of knowledge in all facets of pet care at the palm of your hand, on-demand, on your schedule. As someone who also focuses greatly on raising and caring for my dog to the highest standards, the resource Hundeo provides makes achieving this goal far easier.

About Hundeo

Run by 12 dog lovers, Hundeo was designed to make dog ownership much easier. Promising more than 500 lessons within the app, Hundeo covers all of a dog owner’s most asked topics. These range from dog training and tricks to mental stimulation games and nutritional recipes. The knowledge base encompasses information for new puppy owners as well as seasoned dog parents who want a bit of ease in their daily routine.

What really helps Hundeo stand out from the others around them are their six core values that the company (and everyone involved in the company) hold dear to heart:

  • Passion for dogs (and a commitment to improve their lives)
  • Accessibility and inclusion (making dog training accessible to all)
  • Fun and joy (bringing happiness into training)
  • Innovative and scientifically based (using the latest technology to improve dog care and training techniques)
  • Ethical and sustainable (using only ethical and sustainable training methods)
  • Community and cohesion (fostering a supportive community)

With the above at the center of every lesson, the app definitely stands on its own in the best possible way. With over 1 million downloads in the Android and iOS app stores, that’s a lot of pups to prove this app has merit!

Dog Training App Overview

Hundeo mobile app

Here is an overview of everything you can expect from the Hundeo app.

Pricing

Hundeo has a free version that provides valuable lessons and offers a little test run to see if you like the app and content. However, you must subscribe to the Hundeo Plus plan to access the full library of lessons and features.

The Hundeo Plus plan is priced at $14.99 for the monthly payment plan or $49.99 for the yearly payment plan.

Scientific Backing

Hundeo’s lessons are scientifically backed, and the app even has citations for everything disclosed by Hundeo. Nerdy dog owners can look up all of these research studies and see exactly where the philosophy and ideology came from for each lesson. Because Hundeo is grounded in facts, the app is a much better resource than alternatives that may be outdated with new studies.

Some of the more significant studies cited include Ana Catarina Vieira de Castro’s research on positive reinforcement training, Rachel J. Gilchrest’s study on the efficacy of clicker training, Guilia Cimarelli’s 2020 study on consistent rewards, and John W. S. Bradshaw’s research on disproving dominance theory. Hundeo’s research is also rooted in tech, partnering with engineers to consistently improve the app.

Types of Lessons

All of the lessons are divided into the following categories:

  • Tricks: A collection of tricks to teach your pup, ranging from foundation basics such as sit and stay to more complex moves.
  • Games: Various tutorials for creating mentally stimulating games for your dog.
  • Recipes: Nutrition and recipe guides for yummy goods, ranging from treats to meals.
  • Courses: Longer lessons that are more geared towards the human, helping educate on dog training techniques. An example lesson includes “How To Use A Click For Dog Training.”
  • Guides: The Guides cover various topics pertaining to pet care, such as how to clean a dog’s ears and how to strengthen your bond with your dog.

AI Chat

Instead of waiting for a human to respond during business hours, Hundeo has implemented an AI Chat software to help answer questions faster and more efficiently.

Although this is still in beta and not fully launched, the AI assistant helps pull proper lessons and guides and point you in the right direction. This is especially useful when the alternative option is sifting through 500 lessons!

Hundeo AI chat

In-App Tools

Hundeo also includes various built-in tools for everyday dog parenting, such as a clicker sound, a whistling sound, reminders, and goal-oriented training streaks. There are even fun quizzes on the home page daily.

Ease of Use

Like many educational apps, Hundeo aims to be simple and straightforward. The app interface is very easy to follow, just click on the lesson category you are interested in, and that’s it! Signing up is a breeze as well and takes seconds to do.

Because there are so many lessons, Hundeo allows you to mark the ones that are most important to you as Favorites, creating a Favorites category that makes them easily accessible. You can add and remove Favorites at any time.

Every lesson and guide features step-by-step descriptions and video tutorials for visual learners and those who prefer to read.

However, I have encountered a few minor glitches as this is a mobile app. None of these impacted my opinion of the app, nor were they unworkable; it was more like accidentally opening the wrong page (I clicked on one, but something else opened) or the app minorly freezing and waiting for it to reset.

What to Expect

Like any self-training program, realistic expectations are important. Hundeo does not guarantee how quickly your pup will be trained; that all depends on you and your individual furry ones. Hundeo is merely a guide and instructional program, so keeping that in mind is important.

In Summary

Pros
  • Available for both Android and iOS
  • Scientifically-backed training methods
  • An easy-to-use mobile app
  • Lessons and guides for nutrition
  • Every lesson includes a video tutorial
  • In-app training tools
  • AI Chat to assist you
  • Holistic focus on your dog’s physical and mental wellbeing
Cons
  • A few glitches on rare occasion

Our Experience With Hundeo

Hundeo - lorelei sitting at home

As someone in the generation of sitting on my smartphone all the time, downloading Hundeo was a breeze. Available on both Google Play and the App Store, Hundeo is such a unique name that it appeared right away. I was excited to try this with my rescue pup Lorelei. She may be 8 years old, but that doesn’t mean she can’t pick up some new tricks.

Registering was just as simple; the app didn’t ask any invasive questions – just some basic inquiries about my knowledge of dog ownership (whether I’m a beginner or someone who has done this plenty of times before), how old Lorelei is, and more basic facts about my pup. Once this short questionnaire was complete, I had access to Hundeo’s library of resources – with a custom list curated based on my answers to the questions.

I really liked the interface; it’s a no-frills straight-to-the-point app that easily allowed me to access everything I wanted! I loved the video tutorial for each trick and guide, I can tell that a lot of care went into designing an easy-to-understand system. The videos looked very high quality, and the information was great! My pup and I especially enjoyed the Treasure Hunt exercise, where I hid her favorite treat in a cardboard box with tissue paper all around. I never would have thought of that on my own!

The courses and guides also made for good late-night reading, educating me even further into many of the philosophies and fundamentals of dog ownership. Although this is certainly not my first rodeo, you can always learn something new. All in all, I found Hundeo to be a lot like a dog care encyclopedia as much as a training app, and I definitely got a lot of value from it in just a week of using Hundeo.

In Conclusion

Now that I’ve installed Hundeo, it’s kind of hard for me to imagine not using it. I feel like many pet parents who have discovered this great app feel the same exact way – with so many benefits in easy access anywhere you are, I’m pretty sure your pup will thank you!
