As a dog mom myself, one of my top goals is to provide my pup with the most optimal life possible – from the softest toys to the best food money can buy. All of this is intended to help her live happily and comfortably, but much like us humans, sometimes we need extra help in the form of supplements. I have long taken supplements for my health but have never actually looked into it for dogs. The food we feed doesn’t always give our pups everything they need.

Wellness company Cymbiotika has recently expanded into the dog world, offering our pups the same health benefits that they offer us. But is Cymbiotika effective for pups? My pup and I volunteered to figure this out for us all!

    About Cymbiotika

    Cymbiotika dog Supplement

Who Makes Cymbiotika and Where Is It Produced?

Founded in 2018, Cymbiotika is a wellness brand that focuses on improving health and increasing quality of life. From treatments for tiredness to fixing GI issues, Cymbiotikia has quickly grown to be a known name in the health industry. With a root-cause philosophy, they create innovative formulas of the highest quality. From elevating energy levels to alleviating stress and enhancing gut health, they cater to a variety of wellness needs with precision. Once the company expanded to dogs, the name quickly traveled through the canine community.

All the ingredients are sourced from, well, their source – the most pristine places in the world. Every supplement offered for humans and their furry companions is plant-based, free of gluten and soy, and has no preservatives, toxins, or GMOs.

Which Types of Pets Is Cymbiotika Best Suited For?

Cymbiotika’s pet wellness line is formulated exclusively for dogs (at this time, anyway!). There is no minimum or maximum age or size requirement for using Cymbiotika supplements. Each supplement bottle has a feeding suggestion that depends on your dog’s size and weight.

Why Does Your Dog Need Supplements?

I quite literally feed my dog the best food money can buy. I have studied canine nutrition as much as a layperson could and thought I was giving my dog everything that she needed. However, a recent fur swab test revealed that despite all of these efforts, she was still imbalanced in certain vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Like what we humans deal with, much of our food supply doesn’t provide all the benefits it should. As such, our dogs need supplemental help, too. Studies such as those from the National Library of Medicine show that there is a “high structural and functional similarity between canine and human microbiomes.” which means that our pups benefit from supplemental probiotics, minerals, nutrients, and vitamins much in the same way that we do.

With GI issues, anxiety, hip and joint problems, and allergies being the most common ailments to afflict our furry friends, I learned that supplements are at the top of the list to combat these problems.

Our Reviews of the Cymbiotika Supplements We Received

    1. Dog’s Probiotic+

    Cymbiotika Dog’s Probiotic+

It is formulated to help alleviate GI issues and promote a healthy gut. Many of the ingredients of the Cymbiotika Dog’s Probiotic+ can be found in the human version, too! Probiotics are commonly added to yogurt and kefir, but science has proven that they also have a positive impact on your pup’s belly. The probiotic comes in a heart-shaped chewable treat.

    Pros
    • It comes in an easy-to-feed chewable treat
    • Includes pre-, pro, and post-probiotics
    • Enriched with a complete enzyme blend to assist in breaking down carbs, fats, and proteins (which helps the dog absorb these)
    • It also contains a greens blend that provides nutrition, antioxidants, and minerals to deodorize the digestive tract.
    • There are some soothing herbs included for pups to help soothe and heal the digestive organs, alleviating any discomfort

    Cons

    • My dog did not like the chewable form (more on this in the Experience section)

    2. Dog’s Calm

    Cymbiotika Dog Calm

Anxiety, stress, and hyperactivity tend to result from the body overproducing certain hormones or immediately falling into a panic fight-or-flight response. Dog’s Calm from Cymbiotika counteracts the body’s response by utilizing ingredients (such as GABA) that trick the brain into releasing relaxation hormones. Also coming in a chewable tablet, this supplement takes some consistency to see results but is well worth the wait.

    Pros
      • Chewable tablet
      • Ingredients feature many of the same calming agents used on humans, such as Chamomile Powder, Valerian Root, GABA, and L-Tryptophan
      • GABA has been scientifically proven to reduce the stress hormone and encourage positive hormone production
      • When given over a prolonged period, this supplement should establish a foundation for mental stability

    Cons

    • Some dogs may be sensitive to the ingredients

    3. Dog’s Allergy + Immune Health

Cymbiotika Dog’s Allergy + Immune Health

Allergies come from an immune system response (and tend to go hand-in-hand with a weakened immune system), so having a supplement that tackles both problems at once is a must. By addressing inflammation and the root causes of allergies, we can further support the immune system, offering real relief from pesky symptoms and enhancing overall well-being. This supplement is also unique in that it can counteract allergic reactions as they occur.

*This is NOT for pups having anaphylaxis, seek immediate medical attention for that.*

    Pros
    • Heart-shaped chewable treat
    • Helps pups who are actively experiencing allergy symptoms (such as itching and rash)
    • Treats allergies from the inside with a specially formulated ingredient list
    • It helps promote and keep very healthy and shiny fur

    Cons

    • Some dogs may be allergic (I know, the irony)

    4. Dog’s Hip & Joint

    Cymbiotika Dog’s Hip & Joint

My dog suffers from joint issues, so this was a must-try. The entire formula is intended to help strengthen bones and joints, but it does take time to work. Adding antioxidants to help immediately reduce or prevent inflammation of the joints was another big bonus. This sounds like a vital must-have for senior pups as well.

    Pros
    • Easy-to-chew tablet
    • Assists with bone density, the flexibility of joints, and overall structural health
    • Ingredients are enhanced with antioxidants to help reduce or prevent inflammation of the joints

    Cons

    • Dog may not enjoy flavor

Our Experience With Cymbiotika Dog Supplements

    Cymbiotika dog Supplement

If my dog could write her bio, it would say, “Hi, my name is Lorelei. I suffer from GI issues, lots of skin and internal allergies, I have crooked hips, and joint ouchies!” Unfortunately, Lorelei was found as a stray in downtown Los Angeles at a very young age and missed a lot of crucial vitamins and nutrients, causing many health problems by the time I picked her up at the animal shelter. I have tried to improve all of these with her diet, but I needed some assistance, so I was eager to try Cymbiotika and see if there was any improvement.

The package arrived beautifully, with gorgeous branding, neatly packed, and a fabulous presentation. There was even a gift of a dog bandana (which was sadly too big for my pup!), poop bags, and a poop bag holder! The brochure features a lot of important information about the supplements themselves and offers me a lot of comfort in giving this to my dog.

My dog wasn’t a big fan of eating the supplement the way it was – she can be a bit of a weirdo with that. Anything that is an odd texture, smell, or otherwise my dog takes as an excuse to discard. As such, getting her to take any of the supplements was pretty tricky, so I had to get a bit creative. I ended up crushing the supplements into a powder that I sprinkled on her food! That worked out well. I would say for pups as finicky in the food department as mine, this might be the way to go.

She had an upset stomach for a couple of days after starting the supplements, which is expected from any change in the dietary routine (especially as my dog has a very sensitive stomach). This began to ease after the first week, and her stomach settled back to normal.

I didn’t see the difference at first, but I definitely started to notice more positives after weeks two and three! For starters, a lot of her skin tags and warts did go away, which was a result of a mineral deficiency that impacted the skin. We are in peak allergy season right now, which caused a lot of itchy skin and watering eyes—all of these symptoms dissipated with the use of Cymbiotika.

I don’t change her food much, so I can’t say that I saw a big difference with the probiotic, but no difference can also be a good thing—her gut is likely working a lot better, and I just don’t really see it externally! In the least, it certainly did not cause any negative effect.

She does suffer from hip and joint issues due to a calcium deficiency and canine scoliosis diagnosis, and the joint supplement did wonders here. I could tell the improvement based on her gait and how she walked. When she is sore or in pain, her gait changes tremendously. This even happens after she’s simply laid down for quite a while and stiffened up—and I’ve not witnessed her have that experience since starting the Cymbiotika, and that is a huge thing!

The package also included a few products for the pet parent as well, which was a nice bonus. These products included:

    • Ultimate Pain Balm
    • Super Greens packets
    • Allergy Defense
    • Topical Magnesium Oil

As such, both my dog and I were on the same type of daily supplement routine, and both found significant improvements in various aspects of our overall health. For me, the human supplements were great and easy to take. As mentioned about allergy season, I tend to have awful allergic reactions in the Spring. The allergy supplement cleared up my problems, much like it did for my dog. The rest of the human-grade offerings simply made me feel better daily! A+ all around (once we got over the eating hurdle)!

divider dog paws 2 oct 2024

    Conclusion

Keeping our pets happy and healthy is just as important as keeping ourselves that way, so I will continue investing in supplements. I really liked the way my dog responded to the offering from Cymbiotika, and I would definitely recommend this to all of my pet-parent friends!
