Okay, speaking of capitalizing on catchy songs (we’re looking at you, Dogtye!), we’re pretty sure you’ve heard Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” — and we know you’ve secretly danced and sung along to it in your car.
When celebrated pet fashion designer and animal activist Anthony Rubio heard it, however, he felt inspired.
Appropriating the song’s bouncy hook, Rubio created a series of adoption calling cards for pups without homes, then photographed an adorable Chihuahua with its card. The image immediately went as viral as the song soared to the top of the charts. The cards say, “Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my tag number, so adopt me, maybe?”
Yours truly has to admit she’s been listening to “Call Me Maybe” on repeat for the past two days — it’s just so darn catchy. We here at Dogster agree that this is a really clever way to raise awareness about shelter pet adoption.
So yeah, maybe it’s a bit of a crazy idea — but hey, anything to get these wonderful dogs adopted. And apparently it’s working, since the Chihuahuas featured in the photo have already gone to wonderful new furever homes!
