Update with Lacey

In November of last year it was time for a protein switch so she started off with Acana Pacifica & Nature's Variety Instinct Beef & Lamb Kibble...Nature's Variety Instinct Beef & Lamb is extraordinary but expensive!....however benefits outweight it all...
In December 2010 she got her rabies/bodetella because she's going to go on a trip to California or that was the plan back then..
January 2011 she got a dental cleaning..she got her second rabies then I noticed she started to hump more...The girl is supposed to be spayed!!so I decided to look into vaccination and found that vaccines do more harm than good...eventually it was settled no more vaccines,no more heartworm meds or flea meds(Revolution)..I do have other natural prevention to prevent fleas if we ever get any...Being in Hawaii it COULD happen..2 months later and still no fleas..She's been eating Nature's Variety Instinct Beef & Lamb which has ACV & has greatly reduced her tear stains more than all the other high end brands we have tried!Behavior wise she's getting better too!

Once I found out that she had to get a titer & there was no way around the fact that we COULD only give her 1/3 of the Frontline for the trip to California which caused another maltese/toy poodle to have a seizure after applying the full dosage which was supposed to be for dogs 11-25 pounds...This maltese/toy poodle is the same size as Lacey! so I could not risk that and have that on my conscience because of a bad decision so although we got her titered we decided to skip the trip to California & take her to Maui instead..

Also from about March of this year I have started to give Lacey some raw meat...The Raw Food forum was very helpful...One of the main reasons I started feeding Lacey raw meat is to help with her teeth but so far not looking into it full time YET! but defiantly in the future...and within the past 3 weeks she is slowly accepting raw meat...Teeth has shown a major improvement although she gets dry,can as well still no tarter build up or plaque on the teeth compared to before! So far she is doing amazing since she turned 2 back on the 13th of March!

Today my owners & I went out to pick me a crate because I am going traveling on the plane with them fur the furst time! When we got my crate home they opened up my crate. It didn't take me too long to get used to the crate. In just a few minutes they had hooked my tray onto the door and filled it up with water & food for me.I sniffed and in only a few minutes I lapped up some water & even a bit of food that my human placed in my crate tray for me!Then they placed me inside and I stayed inside for a minute or so.They shut the door & I was good, peaceful, comfy but was not in a rush to get out of there either!I sure furprised them!My previous owners where my mommy & daddy lives didn't tell my new owners who I live with now that I was crate trained!I sure fooled them!I love my new crate but only go in there when I feel like it!

Wanted to share that Lacey just started some raw food!

Lacey's doing a lot better now.We still got her on Halo's Spot's Stew Wholesome Chicken. We have been shopping around for other brands but with so many things in place:small kibble,no beet pulp, none of the fillers, not being able to tell what size the kibble is till we open the package, recalls, and being in Hawaii limits our options from what the mainland has. We're always the last to get anything from the mainland...Hawaii's always last! All of that brought us to a decision to keep Lacey on Halo's not to mention she loves it beyond a doubt and for some reason we can not figure out she is sensitive to a lot of the Wellness dry food.We tried to keep her on dry as much as possible but it doesn't seem to be working out & we don't want to place her on commercial dog food again so we decided to give her Halo's,canned dog food, some homemade cooking about once a week(usually will last about couple days-3 days max),and raw food. The results have been amazing to say the least! With only Halo's & Merricks canned food her stool was firm yet soft but as soon as we got her to eat raw(freeze dried stella & chewy)after several times introducing it to her she now eats about a half patty a day in addition to 1/8 cup of dry food,1/8 cup of canned food. She never gets more than 1/2 cup at the very most. Her weight is taken monthly. Her stool is now firm, good color & dry while she's on Halo's,canned dog food & freeze dried raw & possibly some dehydrated raw later. Her energy level is amazing compared to before. She even wants to play at night.Something she never wanted to do was play at night unless we have family over for a celebration.
