A wonderful shelter!
We adopted Calypso from this shelter in December 2005. A volunteer had brought Calypso to the shelter as only a two-month-old kitten in early July of that year, and the HHS took care of him for over six months and nursed him through a period of illness during that span until we came to the shelter and picked him to adopt. We're very grateful for the work that this no-kill shelter does; certainly if Calypso had been taken to a different kind of shelter instead and hadn't been adopted out in six months, he wouldn't be around today. From our 2005 visit as well as my volunteering at the HHS in the last few months, I can say that this shelter takes great care of all of their animals and is a great place to go to adopt.
Quick n' Slow
The wait was quite long since we arrived in the middle of the day, but according to my sister, it's faster if you show up really really early. Once they finally took Molly back to get her shots and microchip, it was like 2 minutes. The people working there are very nice.
