Dog Parks & Dog Runs Merrick Road West of the Wantagh Parkway Wantagh, NY 11793 Wantagh Park has 2 dogs run across from the boating ramps and parking lots.. there are signs. There is a Dog run for all dogs (bigger ones mostly) and a small Dog run for dogs 30 lbs. and under only. This can be a great place to socialize your dog.. but I recommend asking other owners if their dog is use to other dogs and if they are good with other dogs.. you would think this is a stupid question to ask.. but actually people have told me often such things as - that they are not sure how they'll dog will be.. or my dog is good with only females.. and others just lie about their dogs behavior.. but that being said.. most of the time the dogs are all fine.. getting along nicely. And some owners are lazy about cleaning up after their dogs. So you need to watch out (or let owner know their dog is "making".. or better yet help out keeping the park clean for all. This is a great place for you dog to have fun and for people and dogs to socialize as well.
