The John A Bukowski Shelter for Animals is located in Bloomfield, NJ. Managed by the township of Bloomfield, the shelter’s animal control serves the towns of Bloomfield, Nutley, Glen Ridge and Caldwell. The town, along with the shelter’s volunteers, socialize the animals in residence as well as help potential adopters find the perfect addition to their family.

A 8 week Therapy Dog preparation and certification class in South Orange, NJ to benifit the Jersey Animal Coalition. Dogs must have had basic obedience, be friendly to people and other dogs, and be current on all vaccinations. The weekly classes meet from 7-9:30 PM, cost $125 and will take place at the Jersey Animal Coalition at 298 Walton Ave in South Orange, NJ 07070. A discount is available to dogs adopted through the JAC. Teams that attend will be able to polish their obedience and leash handling skills, learn advanced skills, get exposed to medical equipment, and learn how to conduct safe and effective Therapy Dog visits. The class will end with the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and a Therapy Dog Certification test. Class size is limited, so sign up in advance, only.
