She is a CGC evaluator and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Susan loves teaching to enhance the relationship between dog owner and dog. We are Feral Fixers, an organization dedicated to practicing and promoting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) in DuPage County, Illinois.

Our Goals:

(a) To educate local governments and the public on the benefits of a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program in DuPage County.

(b) To humanely control the population of feral cats in DuPage County, Illinois, primarily through a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program.

(c) To provide educational resources and other assistance to feral cat colony caretakers and local veterinarians.

(d) To provide coaching on TNR methods to feral cat colony caretakers and others interested in furthering the objectives of TNR.

(e) To work in cooperation with other animal welfare organizations interested in furthering the objectives of TNR in DuPage County, Illinois.

(f) To promote the importance of spaying and neutering for all cats, feral or non-feral.

Our Long-term goal: To reduce both the number of cats euthanized and the feral cat population in DuPage County while improving the quality of life for both cats and humans through the high-volume use of low-cost or free spay-neuter services to sterilize feral, semi-feral, stray and domestic cats.

Feral Fixers offers its TNR services to all colony caretakers, without charge. While we ask for donations from colony caretakers, we recognize that for some of them, any additional cost is just too much. Therefore we rely on donations from other individuals to make up the difference and allow us to continue our work. These donations allow us to spay/neuter additional cats, keep a 'bank' of traps and trap dividers we loan out for free, hold workshops and provide other educational benefits.

We have been lucky enough to photograph dogs all around Chicago and the Chicago suburbs. We have been commissioned by loving pet owners to photograph their beloved dogs. Each K9 photography session is uniquely designed around their individual temperament to capture their natural character in a stress-free environment and is completely tailored with thorough planning. This will result in a set of unique, professional images to treasure for a lifetime. The experience is vastly different from many of the traditional photographer's studio sessions or superstore offers that provide static scenic sets into which the dog simply positioned. Dog photographer Sean Cummings believes that dogs are beloved members of the family and deserve their photos on the family wall. Customized shoots take place exclusively in and around the home or at your favorite dog park where the dogs can relax and be themselves. Each client walks away with a great collection of images that tells the story and shows the personality of their furry child.

Cat Guardians, Inc was opened in 1988 by director Kathy Blackwell in a two-story white clapboard house near the corner of St. Charles and Westmore Rd. in Lombard, Illinois. The shelter has seen over 1500 cats adopted from the shelter, where they have been nursed back to health or at least avoided the need to scavenge garbage or prowl for prey in the wilds of suburban Chicago. Cat Guardians does not employ euthanasia, except in extreme circumstances in which medical conditions are such that prolonging a cat's life would no longer be humane. Due to its no-kill policy, Cat Guardians is usually filled to its legal capacity of feline residents. Today, some 50 cats and a rotating population of kittens reside at Cat Guardians shelter. Although some cats and kittens are caged for their protection (due to illness, skittishness, aggression or their young age), most roam freely, having the freedom to play or nap in their choice spots. Some of the cats, adorable though they are, have not been adopted or are considered un-adoptable due to their advanced age or chronic medical problems. These cats are assured of a loving, permanent home at Cat Guardians. The daily activities of the shelter are feeding the cats, administering medication, cleaning the litter boxes and the shelter, are performed with the help of volunteers and funded through supporters like you.
