My dogs rarely get left alone for long. I work from home, and if it looks like meetings or other appointments will keep me away for a good chunk of time, I make plans to leave Spot and Dolly at my friend/pet sitter David’s house.
That wasn’t possible last week, though, when car trouble had me unexpectedly heading to a dealership across town, where I sat for half the day. I was grateful to have recently received the Motorola Scout1-B Wi-Fi Pet Monitor to check out before giving one away to a deserving Dogster reader.
It took just minutes to set up before I left. The system simply requires placement of the camera, installation of the Monitor Everywhere app, and connection to a Wi-Fi router.
I appreciated being able to check in on Spot and Dolly while waiting for my car. They are well-behaved pups, so for me it provided entertainment and peace of mind.
Others may want to use the system for correction purposes, though. The camera has a speaker and microphone, allowing for remote two-way communication, so it may help with cases of nuisance barking or other misbehavior if a dog responds to verbal commands.
Pet parents also can pan, tilt, and zoom the camera remotely to keep track of pups within an area, and they can take photos and record video. The camera has infrared vision, too; I can see this being appreciated in a home where the dogs sleep away from their humans at night.
As mentioned above, we have one Motorola Scout1-B Wi-Fi Pet Monitor to give away. Follow the instructions below to the letter or lose your chance at winning this cool — and pricey at $299.99! — prize. The system is compatible with a Mac or PC and with iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Look at the specs before entering to ensure it will work for you.
