Why do people hate my saint??

We recently adopted a 1 year old saint bernard and i have been in love with her from the moment i seen her! But everyone keeps telling me that she is a "crappy" saint! Meaning that she is poorly bred...and it hurts my feelings because i am so in love with her! Why is it that she is so "crappy" she looks like a perfect smooth coated saint to me other then the fact that she is a bit skinny (were working on that!) What about her makes her so ugly to everyone? She has perfect markings, a beautiful coat, she looks like a show dog to me, again other then the fact that she needs to gain like 20 pounds...is it her weight that makes her look so bad to others? please look at her pics and let me know what is so wrong about her!Just copy and paste the link below.Maybe i am just blinded by love but she is my perfect little (big) angel!!!

She looks like a pretty puppy to me. Don't try to make your dog gain weight. Unless she's sick, she'll definitely gain on her own. Talk to your vet is the best response for that. He/She will set your dog up on a proper feeding schedule. Sarge eats about 5 to 6 cups a day.

honestly, i find people are intimidated by saints. they are a majestic looking dog and it takes a rare type of person to own one and people need to try and stick up for their 'normal' dog breed.

i wouldnt take it to seriously and as long as you love him then wtf cares? right?

oooh Harra's a pretty dog too. I guess it's what you like. If your not into Saints they might look ugly to you. As for myself, I can't find a picture of a saint that I don't like.

When I walk Lucy I get plenty of, "Oh my! What a gorgeous dog!"
I also get, "Whats that a mix of?" or "Is she a purebread?"

Granted I prefer the former to the latter, but I usually will give them the benefit of the doubt and respond, "Well, she's a long-haired saint, so I do them they bred them with Pyrenees or Mountain Dogs a couple hundred years ago".

Athena, you are adorable, so don't worry what others say! I have a sister-in-law who breeds dogs and is very much into the confirmation side of the dog shows. Now while she sticks to German Shephards, she has seen enough Saints at the shows to judge a bit of their appearance. Snoops does not have a show quality head (Actually she doesn't like his head), but I really couldn't care less. I'm not breeding or showing him, so who cares! I love him and in all honesty, its the first negative comment I have ever received about his looks. Personally, don't let it bother you, people can say all sorts of things, but in the end, your the one with a gorgeous saint so they can all just "suck it up"! If they critizise the drool......well, that's a whole other issue! LOL

Please don't listen to those that are ignorant - she is a real beauty and will only continue to grow more and more beautiful with your love.

I think sometimes people only think that Saints look like Beethoven and don't realize that they also come in short haired versions and that is what throws them for a loop - but again, she is a real beauty and you should be very proud of her - I know that I would be smile
