Run Walk or Wag for the Animals

to benefit pets at Second Chance

5k and 10k road race and 2 mile walk part of event!

NORTH BROOKFIELD, MASS, June 22, 2011 — Second Chance Animal Shelter will be having a Run Walk Wag on September 18, 2011. This event will include a 5K and 10K professional timed road race which is expected to entice runners from all over. For those that are not interested in running, there is also a 2 mile walk around the picturesque town of North Brookfield. And all of it to benefit the pets at Second Chance.

“We are having this event at our new facility in North Brookfield” stated Sheryl Blancato, Executive Director. “This event includes a yard sale, vendors, and other K-9 events that will be a lot of fun! It is also hoped that the runners and walkers will “wag a little harder” for Second Chance and collect pledges for their walk/run. All proceeds benefit Second Chance.

Every pet- deserves a- Second Chance

- Sturbridge, MA The 2009 Walk ‘n Wag is an event that is fun for both dog and human alike!. It’s been labeled “the doggie version of a day at the carnival”. And what’s best, it all benefits the homeless pets that Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield, MA helps.

This is an event for animal lovers that really draws a crowd! Animal lovers come to enjoy the canine demonstrations, educational booths, compete in the doggie contests, auction/raffles, food, the “doggie boutique” loaded with lots of great stuff for both pet and human alike, a fabulous chicken barbecue (advance tickets required) - and more food, fun, and entertainment. This event is located at the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club on 24 Hamilton Road in Sturbridge, MA. These beautiful grounds include lots of areas for the dogs to enjoy and take their humans with them. But remember, you don’t need a pet to enjoy the fun! Enjoy a wonderful walk on the trail through the grounds, or sit by the private pond and relax. Get a chance to chat with other animal lovers and at the same time raise needed funds for the shelter.

And the most important part of the day that can help homeless pets is for you to walk! Enjoy a wonderful leisurely walk on the trail. Your walking will help those that can’t speak for themselves. This is a chance to stand up for those that need us the most - our homeless pets. You can walk with, or without, a pet. Well behaved dogs are welcome to come enjoy the day. Get pledges for your walk and you can even earn prizes. The more you raise, the more “thank you” prizes for you too!

This is the 10th annual event sponsored by Second Chance Animal Shelter. All proceeds from the event go directly to help Second Chance provide a second chance for homeless pets - and you CAN make a difference. Best yet, you can get started right now by going to www.secondchanceanimals.org and registering - it’s FREE! You can even create your own webpage, add your favorite pictures and raise funds through your webpage.

What is there to do there?

You can enjoy canine demonstrations such as agility and even give it a try, check out the many booths of animal related items, enjoy the beautiful grounds and pond, enjoy the chicken barbecue, and most important - walk!

The fun things expected at this event are: Canine Good Citizenship (C.G.C), Photography, Chicken BBQ (advanced tickets required), Agility Demo, Police K-9 Demos, Doggie Contests, Reiki, , Pet Massages, Raffles/Silent Auction, and the famous Doggie Boutique.

The Walk ‘N Wag also retrieves vendors from the animal world that you can visit and see what’s new and different for your favorite furry companions. There are educational booths where you can learn about disaster preparedness, get your pets photo taken, compete in the doggie contests, and so much more!

This event is held at the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club at 24 Hamilton Road in Sturbridge. There are acres and acres to enjoy and there is a covered pavilion so this event can be held rain or shine. For further information and/or sign up for the event, go to www.secondchanceanimals.org

They just won the 2007 Pedigree Best Rescue Story Award and we are competing in a national contest for a makeover. So, I am on the internet a lot working on that contest for our shelter.
I love dogs and spend 7 days a week working with them. Dogster is a lot of fun and I am enjoying searching through the site. dog
