Service & Therapy Dogs > Exactly why are puppies from breeders a better choice than a rescue?

It seems from more recent information such as the Russian fox studies that more of temperament is genetic than possibly was previously thought. However, that makes me wonder why schools that breed their own dogs don't have higher success rates? thinking I mean between breeding for it and their puppy raising programs.
I mean even in that environment, they have a lot of dogs who don't make it to full service dog status, so it seems like it would be even more difficult to find a suitable dog in the random bred/raised population.

Sadly you find that in a lot of breeds where there are show/working line splits.

I thought "true" mini Aussies were basically just smaller Aussies? Not a "designer mix" of different breeds crossed together, but just small Aussies bred with other small Aussies to get a smaller dog (that can still work etc...)

So maybe that is partly the difference, it's not a crossing of two random breeds to get a new fad mixture?

Maybe show them the laws/info explaining the laws and how it says service dogs must be task trained, and the info on legalities? So they will realize it is actually that the dog is not legally a service dog and they don't have public access rights if the dog (and handler) doesn't follow/fit the necessary criteria?
Also isn't one of the things that businesses are allowed to ask what the dog does? So do they just lie if they get asked that, and if they do how can they really think they have a true service dog (if they have to lie to get in places)?

What are you looking for, if you are getting an interim harness? Does it need to have a rigid weight bearing handle? If not, there are a lot more options available.

So you called them beforehand and they said it was fine but then when you went they denied you access?

Were/are you able to talk to the person you had previously spoken to on the phone for an explanation?

Yeah it seems it's designed/made differently so it does not have or need that type of trim/edging. However if you look at photos of service/therapy dog vests it seems like the majority of them do have some type of edging or trim so if you're used to seeing that I can see how the Freedom design one might look odd.

Oh that's weird. :/
Anyway what I meant was how the Wolf Packs brand vests have that black trim around the edges, I think that type of thing is what they meant by edging.
Here's another pic that shows it:

Just remove any spaces in the link, Dogster forums always adds random spaces.
