Morning All..

Sadie will be 8 months old in a few weeks and is currently weighing in at 40 pounds. I'm 5 feet tall and while standing her head reaches my mid-thigh, so I'm guessing 2 feet tall?

Her breed @ the shelter was listed as JRT/Beagle, but she's HUGE. One of the Employees told us that they sometimes guess at the breed.

She sprouted LOTS of spots in the last month, but seems too small to be a dalmatian.

She's a good dog and has wormed her way into the heart of my entire family..

Her temperament 98 % of the time is mellow, then her energy goes through the roof for the last 2% and then she goes back to mellow. When she runs and jumps, I swear she's part Kangaroo..

I was wondering what the weight/height of a typical Jack A Bee is, maybe she's a different kind of Terrier?

Thank you!
Willie

My dog Willie is Jack-A-Bee and being the runt of the litter I'm not sure if he is average but.... he is approximately 28 lbs. at 3 years old. I hope this helps

There are two different size beagles, and can get to be about 35 lbs. And are very much like the foxhound (a female can get to be 60-75). She definitely has the appearance of a jack-a-bee though!

Mine is for sure a beagle jack russel mix (i know because I knew the parents) but he has many spots, didnt have any when we got them so I think that is normal. Maybe your's is a larger dog mix like a beagle jackrussel lab mix or something. I am not saying that she could not be a "jack a bee" because really who knows smile She is adorable though.

No matter what you are your a cutie. I am a jack a bee my mom was a broken coat jack russell and my father was a beagle who lived next door. But I am big as well I have long legs about 17in and weigh 30 pounds. I am white with little spots all over but my head is black and tan. Mom thinks I'm a pointer sometimes cause I will stop and look at something and lift my front paw and my tail goes still. But I can jump 5 feet into the air with ease. I'm full of energy all the time as long as I am with my mom everything is good. OH I sometimes give a long woooooo when mom and dad have been gone for a bit. My way of telling them I miss them. Mom says its my Beagle coming out. he he.snoopy

Beagles are known for their tri-color markings so the spots could be from the beagle side. Roxy is mostly brown with white markings. Some beagles have brown, white & black markings. She looks jack-a-bee to me but maybe there's something else in her background. Roxy has the beagly ears but the jack snout and jack bark and she's around 30 lbs at 8 years old. The spots I can see in your pics look like ones Roxy has on her belly. Jack, my m-i-l's full jack russell, has those dark spots under his white fur so if he gets a short haircut you can see them. I've read that some vets now have kits to test the breed if you really want to know. Good luck! snoopy way to go

My Sandy is 42 lbs. I thought the same thing for a while but finally realized that she couldn't possibly be anything but a Jackabee. Her Mom was a Beagle and her Pappy a Jack. It seems like they're giants, but think about it really-- the bigger Beagles when they aren't fat are about 35 lbs., then put that on the stilts of the taller Jacks, (2 sizes of them too!) and you get a pretty big dog. My Sandy (btw I started this group for her...) comes up to my knee (I'm 5'3") with her head somewheres about mid-thigh also. She's got the Jack spots on her nose (only when it's wet) and on the insides of her arms, has a fat Beagle neck, her tail has the muscle/bone of a Jack's with the length and white tip of a Beagle's so it curls to her mid-back, the Jack eye sight, beagle nose, ears get held like each dependent on mood, jumps like a Jack (or Kangaroo), has the persistence of a Beagle, the curiosity of a Jack, and the intelligence of both. Don't be fooled by the size; I chalk it up to "hybrid vigor"! (On a positive note, I just found out that they tend to live to be 15 or more!!)

Grace is almost 6 months old and weighs 14 lb. She has lots of spots on her skin under her hair. You can really see them on her belly. Her mother was the smallest beagle I have ever seen. Dad, the jack russell, was thin and long legged. Gracie a a good mix of both. She has the beagle ears and head shape, nice short hair and sheds very little. She has the jack body, lean and narrow. She has the funniest bark I have ever heard! Closest thing I can compare it to is a roaster!
