We love our off-leash parks! But ...

Shouldn't we pick up after our pups even if it's in the grassy areas?

Do you think another barrel and bag setup at the opposite end of the park might help?

You are SO right! I wish I knew why people felt the rules don't apply to them. Its disrespectful of everyone else who uses the park.

I haven't been to the park, yet, but I was wondering if maybe there are some signs needed that state that you have to pick up after your dog? I don't get it either, it's just common courtesy, not to mention it's a potential health hazard for the other dogs.

Cashmere

Ummm, can I eat- that?!?!?

I know that at the East Branch park, they have a barrel and bags at the front of the park. I think it would help alot if they had a couple of barrels in the back too.
I'm one of those who carry my own bags wherever I go. Nothing makes me madder than stomping through poop! I think it's just rude not to pick up after yourself. shock

That's the thing, Milo, there ARE signs at the front of the park, right by the trash barrels and disposable poop bags.

Those signs are right over the dispenser for the disposable poop bags and the trash barrel. The signs read (my best recollection): "You are REQUIRED to pick up after your dog. Use the disposable bags provided. Dispose of the waste in the waste barrels." Doesn't say anything about "if you feel like it", or "only if your dog poops right on the trail" etc. REQUIRED.

Now I can see legitimate reasons why people will not pick up every time, because sometimes your dog is far enough away you don't see them poop, or when you get there you can't find it in the tall grass. But we see people who don't take bags with them and stand there and watch their dogs go and make NO effort at all to pick up. These people clearly had no intention of picking up.

I agree with Cashmere that it would be helpful if there were barrels and bags in the back parts of East Branch and some of the other large parks.
