Grass eating Basenji???

	Hi all, mom read a really cool artickle that Kelpies mom sent to her.....it is actually a whole web site about basenji's!! It mentioned about a certain kind of grass that the native Basenji's eat.... now, mom saw that and thought, hmmmmm...that's acuz i like to eat the leaves off of young sunflowers (mom calls them swamp sunflowers acuz they are "puny" in bloom but very tall in growth. I also like to munch on various grasses - she's not sure how i know which ones i want - but she sees me carefully saying no.....no....ok.....no....no....etc. I know what i want. It is not to make me get the sicks....although sometimes i do.....but mostly i just nibbles.... Any body else out there do this?

	Hmmm... my mom and dad actually asked the vet because I am always eating the grass at the bark park, our apartment complex, when I visit grandma, etc. As long as you sunflower nibbles aren't upsetting your tummy and you stay away from oleanders (very, very poisonous), you should be okay. Some doggies (like me!) just like to eat plants for some variety. Still, just to be safe, ask your vet. I wouldn't want a fellow basenji mix to get sick. Saber

	Thank you for the response Saber! Don't worry about me eating the wrong stuffs - mom used to live in Florida (where there are all kindsa bad stuffs for kitties to eat). She watches me very very closely. She has just been a bit mystified on how i decide which things i want to nibble....it is only certain grasses (not just any old one will do!) and the sunflower leaves - those are waaaay tasty! so, i guess i am just a weirdo throwback to the ancestral basenjis?
