Please help Zen...housetraining

i have a problem my 9 week old Border Collie is so sensitive that when he potties in the house i yell stop and pick him up and take him right outside. however when ever i yell stop he gets over scared cowers and runs under the table while peeing the whole time to the table i pick him up take him outside and he pees the whole time on the way outside. i'm not sure how to house train him without scaring him like this. please someone help me i hate seeing him scared.

Did you ever try to clicker training this. Like training him to pee on a pad. When ever he pees there click and treat. Then he will always use the pad. Then move the pad outside.

It is understandable that Zen potties when you yell, being nervous also can cause sudden excitement. So when he potties instead of yelling right away so he will scramble under the table, maybe walk over to him and get a hold of him, but stay calm. When Zen potties indoor scold him and take him outside, if he potties outside praise him. If this continues, just repeat eventually he should catch on. But remember patience is required.


We had the same run in with my grandparents dog Snoopy.

We used crate traing with our abbie. We put her in the crate about 2 hrs then let her outside to pee. Let her play for awhile than back in the crate. It only took about a week now she barks when she has to go and sits by the door.
