Since I am a service dog, I am out frequently and my mom gets stopped all the time, not about me being a service dog, but asking what breed I am. She is often asked if I am a St Bernard or a Great Dane. I am not that large. I am tall and skinny, but not huge. I am 28" tall and about 95 lbs. 1 vet insisted that I was a St. Bernard and Collie mix. There has been a couple people that actually asked if I was an Anatolian Shepherd, including someone that worked at a shelter. When my mom adopted me from the shelter, I was listed as a St. Bernard mix. I do not have the built of one at all. They only said that due to my coat coloring. Which my mom has found out can also occur in the Anatolian Shepherd. My mom knows I am not a purebred, thinking there also could be Greyhound and Lab in the mix with the Anatolian Shepherd. 1 person described me being Anatolian front half with a Greyhound back half.

My parents didn't really know what an Anatolian Shepherd was, until they ended up with me and my brother! They had read about them and thought that they may be great dogs, but never imagined getting one. They had always been Saint Bernard parents. When they came looking for a new Saint pup, they found me and Forrest at a rescue shelter, listed as Saint Bernards. Our markings and size sure fooled them at first - they scooped us right up and took us both home. After they got us home they realized that we weren't Saints at all. It took a while to figure out that we might be Anatolians because of our color/markings - hadn't seen Anatolians like that before. We may not be purebred (we'll never tell), but we sure have all of the traits of Anatolians.

No one ever knows what I am, and most have never heard of an Anatolian. To be quite honest, neither had my family until they found me! They were told I might be a wolf mix or something. Glad they figured it out!
