This weekend - and last weekend for that matter - my auntie dognannies insisted that I take part in swimming. First it was around the corner in Annie & Maggie's infinity pool (yawn!) then all the way out to a barrio in North Hollywood w/my girlz Francine & Priscilla. I am a long haired chihuahua - my legs are about 2'" long, and wet I look like a drowned rat - swimming for me is NOT fun. My aunties decided that I needed to swim the length of the pool, and kept grabbing me off the side when I tried to run away. I even ran all the way into the living room once, but they still came & got me...So auntie 1 would stand at one end, and auntie 2 would hold me down at the other end. Then everyone would scream "Go Blueberry!" and all of a sudden I'd be freely floating in the water - with no human arms to hold me - and I'd have to begin to paddle for dear life. Auntie 2 would scream and reach out to me with a cookie, like I could even think about eating when I'm drowning, while my dwindling dogpaddle seemed to get me nowehere. But somehow if I just focused on her hand, just thought about my fur coat not pulling me under, I was able to push out enough strokes to get to the other end of the pool, where auntie 2 would pluck me out of the water and throw me onto the concrete while everyone cheered. Finally I was a hero and would get that damn cookie, but then only a few minutes later someone new would show up and they throw me in the pool to do it all over again! It was especially helpful that the other dogs barked at me the whole time I was dying, how 'bout lending a paw, bitches?
