| Barked: Mon Jun 12, '06 12:40pm PST | | | | | | Hello all,
Have you noticed that the Staffys in the UK are looking more and more like pits. We live in North London and it is very rare now days to see a really full staff. seems like theres a really big demand for taller and fuller "staffs". More and more experimental breeding is done to get the staffys to look more like their "Pitbull" cousins. As we all know pits are illegal in the UK but the recent trend makes you wonder where all these half pit half staffys are coming from.
I personally dont believe in making any type of dog illegal as i believe in "Blame the owner NOT the Dog". Pits can be the most loving dogs, my Cuba is a big example. She absolutely LOVES all other dogs, regardless of size, sex, etc... any thoughts please join the discussion.

I have known several people in the UK however with Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes which they openly talk about, no one seems to bother. Have you heard on the news recently though - gangs in England are dropping wepons and instead favoring large, agressive dogs. When breaking into somewhere they are setting Rottweilers, Staffies and Pit Bulls onto people while they steal what they want. It's awfull, if they carry on there will be even more banned breeds, even more lovley dogs in the rescue, and even more Staffies being pts because no one will adopt them

If i told Cuba to attack someone she would just go and lick them to death. ha ha ha... sometimes i just joke around with my friends and tell cuba, Cuba go and get her... she just starts jumping me and looks all confused ! like what should i do?? ha ha ha

BOOMER!
NOTHING IS- UNCHEWABLE! |
| Barked: Sun Mar 18, '07 11:12am PST | | | | | | Hi
i live in the black country area of the midlands are there are alot of oits around here too, but there are also alot of great looking staffys too. i think personally that the staffs with abit of lenghth in thier leg (like my dog boomer) look alot better than the short tubby ones but these shud also be pure staffy! with no pitbull influence, i have nothing against the pit but i think most would agree that the pit is not a staff and likewise and the two breeds should be kept seperate. i think we need to preserve both the irish and english staffy and stop mixing them with pits rotts or whatever you happen to come across on your eastate.

american pitbull terrier
american staffordshire terrier
staffordshire bull terrier
do you mean american pitbull terrier?
my staffie zack is longlegged to me thats a proper staff...looking back to the history of the breed...they probebly look like apbts
because they are related...i dont mean to sound harsh but it gets me angry that some staffie owners try to distance themselves from the
"pitbull" thing....in the u.s staffies are classed as "pitbulls" in parts of the world where B.S.L is rife staffies are banned and killed...
please watch this small clip.

personally i dont prefer the really short staffs, i saw one today big broad body and tiny little legs...
again no offence intended

im from the black country too..... yay...
some think if you mix a staff with a rotty it makes a "pitbull" lmao
we were once offered £500 to mate our zack with a rotty....
no way..if they offered me a million..i wouldnt
the apbt is a real recognised breed in the u.s..it isnt just some cross breed...they are beautifull dogs the same as our staffies and other bull terrier breeds...

| Barked: Sun Aug 12, '07 3:20pm PST | | | | | | [amazingly found this by google] I have to agree so many dogs I see these days are almost idetical pits and come under the cover of american pit x american staff, irish staff or american staff. It is a shame pitts are illegal but i think in the end there will always be pits under a diffrent name. I belive also very few pits are actually purebred pedigree pits as with american and irish staffs it's getting too easy to see pit in them. | | | | |

Bully's are good- dogs too!! |
| Barked: Mon Aug 10, '09 6:59pm PST | | | | | | Zack you are almost right about the term "pit bull" in the states the problem we have is any of the 30 or so breeds that share the same basic look are "pit bulls". This is the problem we are dealing with. At the shelter I volunteer at has a Boxer that the board is convinced is a Bully and now he is on death watch but if it comes down to it he will be coming home with me,(my wife might leave). Do you see my point? | | | | |
