Bella has done an excellent job w/ potty training, has been consistently ringing her bell by the door when she has to go out. However, she has had an issue since the day we brought her home. We bought her a doggie pillow, she ran over, jumped in, and proceeded to "dig" on the pillow. Then she "circled" a few times and pee'd. Really shocked us. Since then, sporadically, she will dig, circle and pee on blankets on the couch or on the bed. Doesn't do it every time, just every once and a while. Anyone experienced this issue / have any advice?

Your post is old but I figured I would respond anyway because my puppy does the same thing... He is trained and sleeps at night in our bed... but if one of the kids brings him on their bed he scratches circles and either flops down or pees.... He has also once or twice just went over to his bed and peed. I think becase he NEVER does it in my bed it might be a beginning sign of marking his spot?

Argh! Does anyone have an answer to this? My dog does this all the time and I'm getting really sick of doing laundry so often. It seems to be limited to his blankets and places where he sleeps. He's 11, a border collie cross and he's been doing this for a few years.

I love that I found this topic. My Maddie did this exact thing last night and I'm at my wits end. I was so mad at her..she's never done anything like this before. She jumped up on the bed with us, proceeded to circle a few times and then began to dig. I couldn't figure out what she was doing until I saw her start to pee! WHAAAT!!! My problem is that she is so darn cute it's hard to get mad at her, but she did have to spend a few minutes outside while I changed the sheets. Oh well, what's a mother to do.
