I've volunteered a lot with long-term care and one of the things patients have told me time and time again is that giving up their pets was hands-down the worst, most depressing, saddest part of the experience. I know for me, my dogs are my family and my best friends, and when my time comes to head for the bridge and find my babies who've preceded me I would be much more at peace having my pups with me.
