This is my first winter with Lucy and we have been having a blast. She bounds with glee after every snowfall. Yesterday, i was shoveling the sidewalk and driveway while Lucy was rolling around in the snow like a pig in mud. I'd occasionally knock an icicle off the roof and toss it to her, then she'd grab it, make a couple laps around the house, then plop down in the snow and chew on it like a bone. So adorable!

Recently, on our walks, Lucy has been doing the funniest thing i've ever seen. While we're walking on the sidewalk, and Lucy catches a scent in the snowbank, she jams her entire monstrous head into the snowbank like an ostrich in the sand. Then she'll drop her front legs, slide on her belly, with her rear in the air and her hind legs pushing her deeper into the snowbank. Soon, I'm standing there with a leash that only has half a dog on it! LOL All of a sudden, she'll burst out of the snowbank like a jack-in-the-box, flip on her back, and go crazy, again, like a pig in mud, then ready to move onto the next snowbank. I'll haev to video tape it next time.

Am I alone or does your saint burrow into the snowdrifts in your yard?

Hopefully this summer we can try our attempt at swimming again. Last summer she had no interest in gettign wet...must be the great Pyr in her...

Hi Lucy,
You just described what Samson does every time he goes outside in the winter. He loves to go for walks and rolls around on the plowed road and sticks his whole head in snowbanks. Very funny to watch. Makes it a little easier for me to deal with the snow, which I don't like as much.

Yup, both Snoops and the newf do this. In the yard, where we have piled up snow drifts, (correction....where we had!), both the dogs just about burry themselves in it. They roll around, dig, and play in it all the time. They also seek out the snow to walk in. We have a deck that connects to the back of the garage where their dog run is, and they both climb through the snow, in lieu of walking on the cleared out deck! LOL. Yah, they love the white stuff and I can't wait till its all gone!!!!!!

LOL, its funny, but my Mom does not like the snow - go figure, but since she got me, she has actually begun to like the snow !

But I think its because I do the same thing - I get a whif of something, that no one else seems to smell - how can they not ? And I just plunge my face right into the snow like a Pink Flamingo does in the sand, and keep going, till I am half gone too - all that can really be seen is my wagging tail, and then I pop up, and run like a rabbit all over the place. Makes my Mom laugh so hard that she forgets that her fingers are freezing , even in their gloves, and doesn't want to go in.
