I have posted in a couple of the threads on here about Labrador behavior. Savannah is my second Labrador and she is a good girl, but a born clown. This first became obvious in obedience class where we were told to use training practices to teach them a "special" trick. I taught Savvy to "jump" for treats.

Unfortunately, she found this MUCH more entertaining than all that sit/stay stuff and proceeded to launch herself in the air like a large yellow kangaroo when given any command.

She is now 3 and is a little more reserved, but she knows when she has an audience and makes the most of it. Never tell me that dogs have no sense of humor! Last night in the street in front of our house she was doing somersaults and pratfalls for an audience of: One State Trooper in a patrol car (he used the speaker to advise me to get my dog under control!) One of the neighbors who had her dog with her (she helpfully shrieked "don't let her near Bobby!" -though she commonly allows her dog to run loose!) And some young man who I did not know who thought he was helping by making little dashes in our direction and saying "scoot, scoot."

I man hauled Savvy to her feet and tried to lug her away to no avail. I finally had to ask the audience to please pay her no mind and she would eventually get bored and allow me to lead her home.

This is just a lament. I don't need training tips - believe it or not, MOST of the time she listens. But not when she is in mood to show off and has an audience!

That was so funny! I can just see the trooper, the lady, and the guy saying "scoot, scoot".
Hilarious! She really loves to put on a show, it seems.

My Bella (1.5 yr old chocolate) does the same thing, except she likes to "speak" or "high-five" every time you give her a command. It's really pretty funny. Even when she smacks you in the face when you're asking her to sit. blue dog

Thank you, Alfie! I think Labs are so much fun because they know HOW to have fun!
