HELP! I have a boxer who is now being quarantined for his 3rd bite offense. We've met every stipulation placed on us to get him back home last time and now, due to a door not being latched all the way, he got out and bit someone else that came to our front door. I'm scared they are going to make up put him down. Does anyone know the laws or have any helpful hints for us to make sure he comes back home.

Hey, I am in Maryland. Eastern Shore. And I work in a library. Let me see what I can find for you...

What county are you in?

It could make a difference.

(you can find the basics here: http://www.animallaw.info/statutes/stusmdcrim_law_10_619.htm )

Okay, let me see what I can find for you. Have you talked to Animal Control yet? Are they giving you any information?

Thanks SOOO much...they were nasty at first but AS WE SPEAK, the one officer is going to try to spare him his life at this point. I'm still waiting for the outcome but this is indeed his last chance at this point

I notice that the law talks about attacks OFF owners property, but doesn't say about ON owner's property...

Not sure if that gives you any wiggle room.

Don't know if you want to go legal...but found a list of lawyers who do "Dog Law" in your area.

I noticed that too and wondered. Both time, the person was at our front door and he bolted out of the front door. But it doesn't seem they are taking that into consideration.

We have some weird phrasing in our county too. Dogs are supposed to be "under the owner's control" which is very non-specific.

But it seems animal control gets to define that without having anything in writing.

Obviously it is not good that your pup is biting...was it the same person? Is it a friend or a random door knocking individual?

(We got Mormon's last night and Savvy slobbered all over their tidy black suits.)
