Giving up on Shelties for SD work?

If you are wondering what is the right dog for you, this is the place to be. In this introductory forum we talk about topics such as breed vs. mix, size, age, grooming, breeders, shelters, rescues as well as requirements for exercise, space and care. No question is too silly here. This particular forum is for getting and giving helpful, nice advice. It is definitely not a forum for criticizing someone else's opinion, knowledge or advice. This forum is all about tail wagging and learning.

I would not give up on a Sheltie. I know many agility/obedience Shelties that are confident, bold, outgoing dogs.

At the same time, they are sensitive dogs who need to decide to bond with their people. I can imagine a period of great unhappiness when they change families. They bond to a place as well as to people, so moving is hard on them.

If you find the right Sheltie, you won't be disappointed. You will become their life.
