GO!

Just for Fun Thread! What Breed are you obsessed with currently?

If you are wondering what is the right dog for you, this is the place to be. In this introductory forum we talk about topics such as breed vs. mix, size, age, grooming, breeders, shelters, rescues as well as requirements for exercise, space and care. No question is too silly here. This particular forum is for getting and giving helpful, nice advice. It is definitely not a forum for criticizing someone else's opinion, knowledge or advice. This forum is all about tail wagging and learning.

I've been intrigued by Beaucerons for a while, and Tollers have caught my fancy lately too (already have a breeder picked out should I ever go that route), and now I've got Koolies on the brain (thanks a lot Zephyr laugh out loud).

All just fluff and daydreams though...it'll likely be about 10 years before we add another dog to the family.

The Akita! We are getting a puppy at the end of summer, and are so excited for the addition to our family! But until our fur baby can come home...it's research, and gushing over how wonderful the dog breed is!big grin

Before we figured out we wanted an Akita, I was really into Great Danes. Such beautiful, majestic dogs. They were just not the right fit for our family.

Since, my first response, I have been looking at the Red Heeler as well. Too many dogs, and too short of a life! Ugh!

And the little Puli, the little mop dog is so cute! Just unsure if I could handle that coat care!

It is so interesting to see all the different lovely breeds everyone is sparked an interest with! Lol, I think I have "liked" every breed once in my life..BOL

When, I was little, I was obsessed with the Japanese Spitz! big laughcloud 9

Jackson big grin he would have been mine had circumstances been different when I found him! But I think he's with a nice family now! I still think about him all the time though- he was a huge, stunning pup and him and Farles got along really well.
However, I can't imagine it would have gone over well if I had randomly brought home a 75-lb six month-old pup laugh out loud

Aw, I'm sorry, Farley. hug I know how hard it is to let a dog you love go. The little buggers just work their way under your skin. I miss my old flatmates dog pretty much all the time and he want even mine, we just 'clicked'. Can't tell you how much I bawled my eyes out when I moved! laugh out loud I'll be a frakkin wreck when Jackson passes on. (lol, yes, this is the dog who is currently eating toast off the coffee table and I just caught LICKING MY HOT CHOCOLATE! And has gone to bed in disgrace. Gotta love 'em.)

Still the German Shorthair and Chesapeake - I really think these 2 will always be at the top of my dream list, but lately I've also been obsessing over Border Collies and Goldens

Farley that definitely was one gorgeous looking pup. Looks a LOT like Bailey when she was younger.

Jackson I too have this thing with the Berners lately! They're stunning and oh so friendly! My brother wants to eventually get one so I'll probably be visiting oftenlaugh out loud

Ooh. Hard to answer. I haven't ever fancied really "out there" breeds. Probably the most exotic and unlikely for me is the ACD. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. My dogs are young-ish so it (hopefully) will be quite a few years before I get my next dog.

And it occurred to me that my next dog is going to probably be the last time I can get whatever I want. (see thread on "what breeds could you not handle...and leave most of those out. Never wanted a Bull Mastiff or a Cana Presario or etc.) But probably my last shot at a big retriever or very active dog...this is going to take some real thinking!

I'll be getting up there. Hell, I'm getting up there now!
