choosing a second dog

If you are wondering what is the right dog for you, this is the place to be. In this introductory forum we talk about topics such as breed vs. mix, size, age, grooming, breeders, shelters, rescues as well as requirements for exercise, space and care. No question is too silly here. This particular forum is for getting and giving helpful, nice advice. It is definitely not a forum for criticizing someone else's opinion, knowledge or advice. This forum is all about tail wagging and learning.

however Ocean Golden retrievers are just like labs. They aren't always loveable and even though i love them to death many people don't know that they are the #1 biting dog in america. On the temperment test pitbulls, labs, bull terriers, dobes, etc. (Banned breeds in particular) rated higher then the golden retriever. A retriever needs a TON of excersise. Living in a apartment wouldn't be the happiest place for them. They also are hunting dogs and if not raised properley and/or have hunting backgrounds they can be the WORST pet to have with small critters.

I would stay away from herding breeds like i said because as you said you live in an apartment. Herding breeds need TONS I MEAN TONS of excersise. When you're away at work they can become very very bored especially a pup. This may result with toilet paper on the ground, soiled rooms, destruction to furniture, or even an escape.

Grey hounds seem like a perfect choice for you i would think or even an italian greyhound. Because of your living conditions a dobe would get bored.

See it's hard to think too big because of your living conditions
