Arrival Story:
I found out a friend had two purebreed german shepherd's left and wanted good homes for them. One was a female, the other one left was a male, who had previously been adopted by a 19 year old male who had no clue as to what to expect with baby puppy. He had returned him to the breeder. The breeder brought the two puppies at my home for me to select. Well, needless to say, I didn't select him, he immediately came to me and when I picked him up he kissed me on the nose, and that was it, our fate had been sealed! He is the joy of my life, and has stolen my heart in ways that I can't seem to describe.

A day in a life of Smokey Joe

Well it's been a couple days since mommy's been able to add to my diary. It's been a long weekend! My baby human brother went to his sr. prom and mommy was busy taking photos and errands on Saturday. My baby brother, BillyJack Blue was adopted Sunday by a special lady and her family! Mommy got to met them, and she knew BillyJack was heading for a hound dog home and would have so much room to run and trail with his new brothers and sisters. I am sad to see him have a new home, as now I only have mommy to play with, but our special lady has promised to keep in touch and send pics of BillyJack as he grows and adapts to his new pack.
Yesterday was a hot day for me. Mommy took me out early in the morning while it was still cool and we played and played and played. Then I took a nap, while Mommy planted onions in the garden. Today we are going to plant some more. I love helping mommy pull weeds and shaking the dirt off them! YIPPEE!!!! Then after my nap and before puppy supper time, Mom and I played some more in our back yard. I got to play with my rope and my squeaky bear and then I just couldn't get enough of chasing, fetching and catching my tennis ball. I got so excited that I barked so loud and made mommy's ears ring!
Today mommy says it's going to rain, so we played outside early this morning. Mom says we need our exercises!
We are having steak for dinner tonight! YUMMM-OOOHHH!!! Can't wait for dinner!
Gotta go find my tennis ball, so I can bug mommy to play some more!

Wow what a Tuesday afternoon!

Mommy and I went out to our little garden and started to get it ready for planting. I like to help pull weeds, if Mommy lets me, I will bark till she gives me one, and then I like to shake the weeds to get all the dirt out of them. Mommy says I am just spreading the weeds seeds, and she won't ever be able to get rid of them, but I can't help but do that, as I love to help pull and shake them! We had a great day. BillyJack and I were allowed to play outside when we had a break from the cold heavy rains. Mommy says that it's supposed to be nicer Thursday, in the 80s, and that Friday morning, we are getting our baths. I don't like the tub, but I love the hair dryer. Mommy says she is looking into finding information on teaching us Search and Rescue as we need a job, something to do! I am so smart, I am sure I would learn how to do it fast, and BillyJack has a perfect scenting nose, that would help track little children if they get lost from their mommies and daddies. I hope she can find a program for us soon!

Wow what a great weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend! The sun came out and dried up almost all the mud. (I hate getting anything on my paws!) I got to play my favorite game, chasing and fecthing my toys. I did have to share some of my toys with my baby brother, BillyJack, but he is a good buddy to play with. We ran around the yard and did figure eights. He would sneak off with a toy, and I would have to chase him to get it back. Geesh, baby brothers! I helped to teach BillyJack to "up" for a treat. He is a smart one. I am trying to teach him to high five, but he's not quite got it yet. Am sure, with my help, he will learn it soon!
