Mountain Lion!

Wellwoof, folks in our little neighborhood are all in an uproar over a coupla mountain lion sightings. There was a flyer left in our mailbox indicating it was seen on Wednesday at 5 am in the middle of the street. This street is a short ways away from our home.

This mornin' Mom jokingly asked if I wanted to go out and play with the mountain lion. In the end, though, she decided to take me out on leash to do my stuff. We walked out the door and suddenly the phone started to ring. We kept goin' figurin' Dad could answer the phone.

Right as I am in the middle of doin' stuff. Dad tells us to come back in. "Can't right now!", Mom yells back to him. But she has an inkling of what the phone call was about. Nevfurtheless, she is patient about lettin' me finish and calmly walks back in.

Turns out, the mountain lion had been seen on our street just a few minutes ago.

Mom is a bit in a quandry of what we are goin' to do. She doesn't want to let fear and panic rule our days, yet she does not want me to have a run in with this wild creature. Think we are goin' to go about our normal routine but with extra caution and a walkin' stick.

Whoa Pepper! Be careful out there!
I thought we were neighbors! Check out this article from the town about 40 miles north of my place.

We have had a few sightings over the years, too...but only one was confirmed!
When I was a wee pup, our neighbor came by and said not to let any of us critters or small children outdoors alone!

Mostly we have just got 'normal' wildlife around here...though there have been a couple of bears in town! Imagine that! BOL!

"Think we are goin' to go about our normal routine but with extra caution and a walkin' stick."

That is EXACTLY what you need to do.

There are way too many gun happy idiots around who will shoot at shadows and ask later.

We have them around places we walk. We see their spoor and poops. They want nothing to do with us.. and we dont temp them.

Beloved Ones ex has them where he used to live. A mum with a cub... she is we are. A we keep veryyyyyyyy quiet about the location... like I said.. too many gun prats.

Folk just need to use some common sense...but i kind of realise that may have died in nineteen hundred and frozen to death.......sadly.

We are hopin' no one harms the lion. But humans are not a good animal to scare. Seems some of us are unable to handle the slightest discomfort to the point of killing the source of that discomfort. Hopefurly this lion will learn to avoid the humans. That would be best fur all.

Bet I could bark that mountain lion away for you Pepper! The closest I've seen to a mountain lion in Boston is some stray cats who live next door in the garden place.

Thanks Whitley & Finley! I am not sure if I will be barkin' at that cat if I see it. My neighbor who saw it guessed it to be about 70 pounds. That's 10 over me!

We suspect a neighbor's boston terrier was taken by a mountain lion about 3 years ago. No one saw that one at all. So they are around. It's just we don't usually see them.
