Arrival Story:
We adopted Anita from the Norfolk Animal Control. We drove two hours to meet her and then again to pick her up. She came 30 pounds underweight, with a limp on the back leg, extensive tick bites on her ears, a scabby nose and in general scabs all over her body. The pound said she looked so much better than when she first came in a month ago O.O We THOUGHT she didn't know any commands and was probably an outside dog that liberated herself. When we got her home we discovered that if you had a treat she magically knew how to Sit, Give Paw, Other Paw, Down and Up. She also came crate trained and house trained. I can only assume that at one point she was a loved dog. I don't know how she ended up a stray and in such a horrible condition. We took her to the vet and found out the limp is a torn ACL. She had knee surgery to repair the torn ACL in April 2009.
