Leave a bone for Pepper (In Loving Memory)

Nicknames:
Mrs. Wiggle-bottom, Pep, Pepperoni, Peptide

Quick Bio:
-pound dog

Birthday:
December 5th 1988

Arrival Story:
Pepper was rescued from a non-kill shelter and came to live with us at the age of 10 weeks. There are no words to describe how intelligent, personable, and loyal this dog was. She passed to the Bridge of cancer at age 13. My heart still aches for her.

Bio:
My mommy really, really wanted a puppy dog of her own. I was her first. She came to a shelter one day and searched for 2 hours, but couldn't seem to connect with any other pups. She turned around one last time and there I was, just looking up at her, wagging my tail. I was two and half months old. I had just been dropped off a few minutes before by a family that kept me for only a month. They thought they didn't have enough time for me, so they gave me back. Then my REAL mommy came along. She picked me up and I kissed her face and she never put me back in that awful cage. We left the shelter and went to my forever home, where my sisfur Punkin was very surprised to see me when we arrived. I ran right up to her and wanted to play, but she bonked me on the nose with her paw. I giggled at her and went right back for more. She tried and tried to teach me to be a proper cat, but I just wouldn't pay attention. Mommy and I would play for hours and I learned how to hug her by putting my arms around her neck and pressing against her. I learned lots of words, too, and knew just what she was talking about most of the time. I loved to play with other doggies, especially my next-door neighbor and best friend, Rebel. He was a couple of years younger than me, so I got to teach him stuff from when he was very young. I really enjoyed company coming to our house, but would never jump up on them or bark rudely. I was a good girl. And I was Mommy's shadow. She loved every minute of it! My favorite thing to do was to eat, though. And I could really put it away--especially mom's meatballs. When I was about 8 years old, we got a new addition to the family: my brofur Simon. He was a tiny kitten and I had so much to teach him. Punkin didn't want to know him, so I was his furmom. How I loved that boy! We had 5 years of cuddling and sharing blankies and beds and then I began to fail. A big lump grew on my hip and the vet removed it, but it soon grew back again. There wasn't much that could be done and when the day came that I couldn't stand up to go outside anymore, Mommy knew it was time to set me free. She held me close and I could hear saying, "I love you, Pepper" over and over while I softly padded across the Bridge. I love you too, Mom, and I always will.
