Arrival Story: after doing a substantial research on the breed and talking to many other naid owners, getting both the good and the bad (to know what to focus more on), i got in touch with a breeder at Terra Pines (first Majestic View, but the breeder was really rude), thinking that i would not get a pup for quite some time as their wait list is 12-18 months. but just about 2 weeks later, barb contacted me with pics of 5 available puppies. they were all so cute but little Tala was just 4 days old and so adorable!! all the other puppies faded to the background and Tala was the only one i saw =)
it took me a while to convince my mom to let me get him now (the wait dates was what i used to convince her to let me get him.. he was gonna be a graduation gift! haha so much for that!).. but the hardest part was convincing her to let me get a male puppy. (we had 2 female dogs already) but even she couldnt resist the cutness of the little puppy!! that picture was all i needed!
i messaged barb back and told her that i wanted Tala (LM1 at the time lol). after that, i waited. every week i got new pictures of Tala and began planning a drive to michigan to pick him up at 6 weeks. but 2 weeks before the trip, i decided flying would be faster and easier on both me and the puppy so i bough tickets and when Tala turned 6 weeks, i flew out and picked him up!
Bio: Tala Koda is a tortoise shell NAID. He has a very strong bond to his family, although he is a little (emphasis on the word) shy of strangers, but it doesnt take him long to warm up to them. He loves bones more than anything else. His favorite game is "Take the bone away from Charm and see how mad we can make her!" he is getting to be a very big dog. at only 4.5 months old he weighed 54lbs and gains about 5lbs a week. i estimate that he will weigh around 140lbs full grown...
Tala is very smart and i am proud to say that he has begun Search And Rescue/Cadaver training and is doing amazingly well! he mastered the first lesson quickly and with no problems. he is very calm, which makes him perfect for this job, although we will need to work on his timidness. i am very proud of him!

I've Been On Dogster Since:
So mommy entered my photo into some contests, one was for the Cutest Pets of 2009 and another was for a photagraphy contest.
Well mommy got a messag congratulating her that my pic was getting so much attention and community votes in the cutest pet contest that the judges took notice and now I get a spot in their upcoming book: Top Pets of 2009. I will be a "featured pet"!! So make sure to check out a copy when it comes out!!
The next contest was actually for mommy but I was her prized shot for the photography contest of course, cause I'm such a handsom guy!! She entered me in that contest and at the end of the contest the judges loved the picture so much that it will be in THEIR book! The book will be titled: Best Of 2009 Photography Anthology. Yay!! So be sure to check that one out for me too!
Grandma took me to that dreaded place again, she calls it the "vet" and it's where doggies go to get better but what they did to me was not good. They... They took away my doglyhood man! Not to mention stabbin me with a needle. But mommy says that's important so if I ever get lost or stolen, I can be taken back to her. That's good I don't know what I would do without mommy.
Anyways, mommy and grandma were really surprised at a massive growth spurt I had over two days! When we went in for an exam before my loss of... Well, you know.... I weighed 61.5lbs then on - that day - I weighed 72.5lbs! That's 11lbs in two days! I am a big boy! Now when I am mad or want something I just sit on mommy! BOL
So I get my new Cadaver dog vest customized just for me! the nice owner of the online site made a special change just for me. He changed the patch so instead of "Canine. Search. Rescue. Recover." it would say "Canine. Cadaver. Recovery. Dog." isn't that neat? Mommy didn't want the search and rescue part cause we are gonna be going just for Cadaver recovery cause I'm too timid around strangers so I wouldn't do good finding live people. I'm so excited for my vest, I think it will look awesome on me, as always, plus it's also got my name on it =•P I told her to get a picture of me with my vest so I can show all my pals.
Mommy says it's only going to be a temporary vest while I'm training, she wants to get a better one later and she is gonna try finding someone to make a patch for her cause she found a really unique picture that she fixed up. It's round with a cross on the inside, a shadow of a dog that looks a bit like me on the left and a skull and cross bones on the right. There is a thick black border around the outside too. On the top it reads Cadaver Search Dog and the bottom says "I smell dead bodies" haha!
I get to meet mommys friend and she is bringing her dog Moe, a Bouvier Des Flandres. Finally a dog closer to my size that I can play rough with! I might also get to meet my puppy playmate, Izzy sometime soon mommy said. That would be really neat cause we used to play all the time as puppies before we left to our new homes! I can't wait!
