A bit about me:
I am my Mom and Dad's first Shelty. My mom had always had Cocker Spaniels before me. I am the queen of the household. I live on a cattle and grain farm. I am not exactly big on herding cattle but I do love to heard kittens. I love to ride in the car and often run farm errands with my Dad. My favorite trip is to see my Grandma and Grandpa. My Grandma always gives me a hotdog when I arrive. Life is good for the QUEEN!

Fall on the Farm

Well it is a busy time for the farm princess. Lot's of action to and fro in the barn lot. My job is to guard the home front while my dad is in the field and if he has to work on the combine here at home I sit underneath it with him while he works. You never know when you might be petted. I will be busy here shortly because my mom is going to have knee replacement surgery so I will have to dig out my nurse's uniform. She is going from the hospital to granny's for a few days so I will have to go over there and check things out.

I have a beauty shop appointment this Saturday to get all prettied up before my mom's surgery. She hasn't been able to give me a bath lately because of her bad knees (oh darn) so I am ready for a sudsin'.
Thank heavens mom doesn't dress me up for Halloween. I do have a neat collar/neckband for the occasion though.
I sure do enjoy these nice fall days to catch up on some naps. I hope you do too. That's all for now. I think they need me to bark at something......

Summer's Here

I haven't had a chance to write for a while because my mom was away around Memorial Day in Charleston, SC. After she came back she was very busy catching up with chores that I didn't get done while she was off gadding about. She then moved into another art studio across the hall from the one she was in so that took some time each evening. Mom has bad knees so we don't get to walk any more of the evening. I went to the beauty shop last Saturday. Boy, I was in need of a summer hair cut! Mom goes to the doctor Monday about her knees so if she has to have surgery I will have to dig out my nurse's uniform for a few days. I have to wear so many hats. I told her she would have to be able to get herself to the bathroom because I didn't do the bedpan thing!

Got my monthly dose of flea and worm medicine last night. Mom has to be very secretive about getting the tube out because I watch her and run and hide under the table in the living room. It's not so bad but I like to at least protest a bit. My cousins Beau and Bigun next door are glad summer is here because they like to swim in the pond. The come over all wet and covered in pond scum and ask me if I want to join them. Not on your life! I think they just want to see me in my bathing suit. Eat your heart out boys. Better go and take my just before lunch nap.

Sorry I haven't written

Boy I am sorry that I haven't had a diary entry for a while but my mom says she has been really busy and couldn't type it for me. I have dictated things to her several times but she has been preoccupied with art shows and stuff. It is planting time (that's if it ever stops raining) so my dad sometimes works in the field all night. I have to lay inside at the back door waiting for him to come in. I laid there until 5 A.M. this morning when the rain brought him in. I could finally go in a lay on the floor next to Mom's side of the bed. It is hard work being the household protector but I can handle it.

Lately I have been giving my barking and howling concerts (as Mom and Dad calls them) quite a few nights a week. They usually are for no reason other than the fact that I like to hear the sound of my lovely singing voice. My mom is not quite as thrilled with it when it brings her out of a sound sleep...Dad has his hearing aid out so it doesn't matter to him. The neighbor has a rooster that crows all hours of the day and night and I told Mom what's the big deal if I feel like singing at 2 in the A.M.

I went to Granny and PawPaws on Mother's Day and got to visit with my cousin Biscuit Arnold. She is a yellow lab. We get along O.K. but I still think that I am Granny's favorite. Well I better go for now. We are having a thunderstorm and I may have to sound the alert or something.
