Mom calls me her little flour dog. Yes,that is the correct spelling. Mom came home from work, I wasn"t there greet her by the front door ,only Pearl. So she knew something was up. She looked inside the living room. She saw that I had taken a new 5 lb bag of flour from the kitchen into the living room and ripped it open . Flour was all over the floor, our dog bed ,etc. None was left in the bag. I mean none. Mom found me in the basement stairwell looking up at her and trying to become invisible.( the animal experts say that dogs don't have a guilty conscious , they haven't meet any of Mom's dogs). It did not work she saw me. So I give her that look that trys to say I did not do it ,Mom ,it must of been Pearl . I knew she didn't believe me. Cause my nose (Mom has picture) was covered in flour and my black fur show white powder all over it. She told me this was the second ( I did not learn the first time) and last time I better do this or I would not get any homemade treats. She also told me that she loved me to pieces which was a good thing. Or there would of been a phone call placed to Aunt Vicky about a re-homing question. Just kidding ,she told me that I and Pearl are hers for life.

We now have a back up singer

We now have a back up singer when Mom and I sing. Neither of us can carry a tune but it doesn't stop us having fun singing. I sit up straight and kind of sings (OK ,barks ) the words. My favorite song is," If your happy and you know it wag your tail". Pearl will join in but stays laying down and will pick her head up if she feels like it (or not) and goes the ar-ruh, ar-ruh, aruh ar-ruuuuuuuuuuuuuh in the hound doggy way . Will work her way into the baying sound. We say she is the perfect backup singer for us. It is just too funny.

No electric morning

Mom over slept cause the electric went out at 3:45 this morning. That was just after the two of thems had gotten up to go potty. Sheena can not hold it thru the night like she use to. The warm wind was howling and taking the snow away, Very balmy outside. Mom was surprise that all three of us were in the bed when she woke up. It was a 3 dog night.

Boy, did the weather change by the time Sheena and us houndies went out at 9:30 this A.M. it was a cold, cold wind. We are all snuggled inside even tho the heat went back on at noon. We had a special treat of scramble eggs and cheese and bits of hot dogs for our first meal of the day. That was of course after we ate our kibble and chicken broth. Mom now will finish the baking we started yesterday.

Sheena is feeling better because yesterday she went to the vet and got her Adequan shot for her arthritis. She is still taking two Zinc capsules a day for a zinc deficiency which runs in older Nordic dogs. The vet changed her eye ointment to one with a stronger med.It has a loong name Erythromycin Ophthalmic . We are keeping our paws crossed that it works better. Need to go now, cookies need taste testing

Rainy day / Baking day

It has been raining (cat & dogs)since yesterday. The only good thing is some of the ice has gone away from the deck and driveway. It gets us all wet and Sheena takes a loooong time to dry. Mom lets us have a smoked bone while she watch us enjoy it. I wasn't quite finished with it but she took it away anyway. Said it was too small to have anymore. Bummer!!! Mom said to get ready to make some dog friendly cookies from the Camp Bow Wow newsletter. Yummo. We are her official taste testers. We take that job very seriously.

We need to send some to our four legged cousins in Ohio in their pkg. We have included the recipe here in case you want your moms or dads to make them for you.

Recipe of the Month - Snickerpoodles

½ cup vegetable oil

½ cup shortening

1 cup honey

2 eggs

3 ¾ cups white flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup cornmeal

2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix up the oil, shortening, honey and eggs. Beat well. Add flour, soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Press the balls down with a fork. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400F. Cool on a rack. Feed to the dogs. Store in airtight container. Feed some more.

Santa heard that we want Trevor's Treats from Vicky Pet Connection . He got us some. Left us more can squeezy cheese. YUMO. That was all we wanted cause we have a warm home where we are wanted , loved and accepted in. Tell me what else could us dogs really need. It was to cold and slippery for our Christmas walk to see all the Christmas lights. Mom said we will make Poppy corn tonite and watch a movie. Sisser Gretchen talks during the movie until all the poppy corn is gone than she'll curl up quietly. Sheena falls asleep during the movie and snores loudly. Pearl is the only quiet one in the bunch.

The snow was so deep Mom had to shovel a path and a clearing for us to go potty.

It is real cold 10 degrees. Even Sheena doesn't like being out to long. We do our business and check out a few spots then back to the door to be let in.

I can't see my backyard. Only snow. The snow is tall than me. My tracks that I and Mom made yesterday are gone.
We are all warm and toasty inside. The wind is really blowing so loud we can hear it here in sided. Mom says we will be OK . We have a brand new bag of dry dog food and a case of can food. We can weather out the storm. It is hard to go potty when the snow is higher than your butt.

I thought they were mine.

just got talked to about eating the chips Mom left on the table by the bed. She said that they were not mine to eat and I was naughty girl. I ran down to basement and stayed there thinking she would call me up and tell me all is forgiven. She didn't. I came back up a liitle while latter but she wasn't talking to or looking at me . I hate that. I better watch my behavior or Santa Paws won't bring me anything for Christmas . I try to be good but my hound nose gets me in trouble. Well tomorrow is another day. I will try to behave.

Mom, findly got up early enough for Pearl and Gretchen to go to Camp Bow Wow. We ran and played with our four legged friends. We kinda stayed inside because it was cold out in the playyard. Inside it is temperature controlled to our liking. Mom send us in with a snack to keep our energy up. We had a run on the treadmill that they have there. One of the camp counselors is there guiding us as we run. We have to keep our girlie figures. Mom, picked us up after running all her errands. All the way home Gretchen told her about our time at camp. Pearl was busy sticking her head out the window checking out the scenes.Sheena had stayed home with a Kong filled with cheese. As her back is hurting her and we don't want her to get bumped around .
We got home and had lunch of kibble and pumkin puree with a little bit of can food. Now it is nap time. We are all curled up on the cushys'.
Till next time.
