Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

Birthday:
May 4th 2003

Likes:
He likes everything about life, but some of his favorite things are: lazing the day away on our bed and taking rides in the car. He also enjoys pestering our cat.

Pet-Peeves:
New dogs invading the house, Akera trying to boss him around, and when mom and dad are gone all day.

Favorite Toy:
His grunting chicken.

Favorite Food:
Anything we're eating, but he really likes his Hill's lamb and rice maintenence.

Favorite Walk:
Near Wildcat Creek where he can fetch sticks from the water.

Best Tricks:
Beg, roll-over, high five, dance, crawl, sit, down, catch, wait for it, fetch and shake. He also rings a bell to go outside (for any reason that strikes his fancy), walks through a tunnel command and will rollover inside the tunnel.

Arrival Story:
We heard about Bandit from a cousin who worked with someone who's dog had a litter of unwanted puppies. My mom, aunt, and 2 cousins rode along (poor lady, she didn't know our family travels in force). When we got there six puppies were toddling around on the floor. They were all unique. Bandit stuck out right away because he has five perfectly round black spots going in a straight line down his back and the rest of his body is white. My mom walked away with a puppy who looked like a beagle and my aunt ended up with the small, black runt of the litter. I really wanted to take Bandit home, but another family had dibs on him. They weren't sure if they could take him, so I decided to wait and see. Luck was with us! One week later my parents drove 2 hours to bring Bandit to his new home (his brother Gabe came along for the ride and moral support).

Bio:
Bandit recently got a new sister who is both younger and larger than him. This was a tough experience for him because he was an EXTREMELY spoiled only dog. The adjustment involved a lot of him trying to do unmentionable things to her and her laying down on top of him, but now they're pretty much inseperable.

Dog days

I don't know about the rest of you, but I could really use a break from all this heat and humidity. It cuts down on the amount of energy Akera and I have for romping outside.

Yesterday mom and dad spent some time in the garden, also known as "the place where I'm not allowed to pee." Later that evening mom was busy blanching broccoli for freezing and shredding zucchini for bread. I tried a piece of the broccoli that mom dropped on the floor. I didn't like it, so mom called over Akera who eats anything.

Speaking of eating anything. Akera got put on a diet by her doctor. She's not to happy and is trying to eat anything she can put in her mouth now. She did manage to lose all the weight prescribed by the doctor and now she's on "maintenence," whatever that is.

On another note, mom's belly keeps getting bigger. It's making it very hard to snuggle on the couch with her. I'm still not to sure about this baby thing, so I've been sticking extra close to mom.

Akera and I found a new way to irritate mom. We roll in interesting smells (the smellier the better). Mom and dad had friends over on Sunday and while we were all outside Akera and I found this wonderful thing that smelled so cool. Mom gave us both baths afterward.

However, the next day, when mom let us outside to use the facilities, I found something else and brought that smell back to her. She was sooo happy. I even got spot bath out of it.

On another note, Akera had to sleep in her crate last night because she was all greasy from her Frontline application. I escaped that treatment because my fur was still wet from the spot bath. I think I'm getting Frontlined tonight though because mom said I was sleeping in my crate tonight. Darn.

Baby blues

A few weeks ago mom started acting all funny and was spending a lot of time in the bathroom. She even slept in there a couple of times. I don't mind when she does this because the bathroom floor is nice and cool.

On top of that she's been telling me "no" whenever I try to walk on top of her, especially when I get anywhere near her belly. In case you didn't know, mom hardly ever tells me no because I'm her baby...

Then a few days ago dad was telling mom that she wasn't going to be able to call me the baby anymore after the real baby came. REAL BABY? What's this? I didn't sign up for one of those squaking, squealing things that mom's friends bring over all the time. The only thing good about babies is that they grow up to be toddlers who drop food everywhere. Well, that and they smell good.
