I completed my lifetime goal: I earned my flyball ONYX award!!! Mom can't believe it, she didn't think I could do it before I retired. I am so excited, I'll be getting a plaque with my name on it... OMG this is super! I'll still do some limited racing. I love being at the start line barking with my teammates. And it's amazing how many people have cookies in their pockets at these tournaments. My big brown eyes get them all the time.

Hooligan and I are going hiking today. I hope I find some little critters to chase. Mom's hoping the poison oak hasn't gotten too crazy yet.

Mom is so Proud of Me!

I raced in a flyball tournament last weekend. My team got first place Saturday, second place on Sunday. Mom is so proud. I've been getting lots of extra kisses and cuddles. My brother Hooligan did good too. Usually he's such a wuss. He was so happy to be at the tournament, he forgot to be scared of the people trying to pet him! Even 2 kids cuddled all around his face and he let them! I could tell mom was happy but puzzled about it. But she pretended not to notice so she wouldn't "ruin" it. He was wearing his cow print jammies, everyone decided they must be his Power Jammies. I think he was just pretending to be brave to be cool like me.

Never mind about the retirement thing...

I've changed flyball clubs. My last couple tournaments have been fantastic! Whatever was wrong with my hip earlier this year is long gone. Last weekend we raced in Madera California. My team got 1st place in our division! It wasn't the fastest division or anything, but we won. I still had some spunk the next day, but mom was tired and we napped when she got home from work. I love napping too.

My brother's a loser...

That Hooligan... I'm seriously going to retire soon from flyball and he's nowhere ready to compete. That was the rule! I tried to show him my tricks but he has the attention span of a gnat. Whatever. He's been stealing away my "mom time" by way of being obnoxious. I'm #1 but he gets all the attention. Brat. I like to rub it in his face that I get bed privileges at night and he doesn't. Dumb ass chased the cat too many times at 3am, now he's gotten himself crated at night. More room on the bed for me! See- I'm trying to write MY diary entry, and already his shenanigans made it about him! Grrrrrr...

I've been doing awesome at flyball as usual. Mom's so proud. My hip was sore after the last tournament. Mom made me get xrays, the doc says I have the best looking 11 year old hips ever. So I get to do another tournament (one day) unless my hip bugs me in the meantime. Then maybe I'll retire. We'll see. I still love to play, but it's very exhausting. Mom's sad, I've been supposed to retire a few times before, but this time's for real. I've had a great career. It won't be so bad snuggling in bed while Hoolie's out working his little peanut brain.

Take care, all my doggie (and kitty) friends!

A Lazy Day

Today my brothers and sister get to have a lazy day. We're all sick with some tummy upset, mom and the Dr don't know why. Even though I feel fine, mom's keeping us home from flyball practice and the dog park. She's thinking maybe the cooties came from the dog park? My bro Photon did a giardia test, but it was negative. Oh well, what Whippet would complain about a lazy day on the couch anyways :)

I finally got to meet my Dogster pal Gideon!

Mom took me and my sis and bro to the races in Sloughhouse. And there was Gideon!!! He's sooooooooo handsome! Mom was so excited, she was petting him and talking to him. Of course as happy as I was, I had to maintain my cool around all the dogs and play hard to get. That Gideon is fast! He kicked butt in his races. Gideon is a Silken Windhound from San Francisco, he has georgeous pix on his Dogster page. There were many Silkens there, mom was trying to place an order for one when I retire. Ha!! I'll show her, that's not going to happen for a loooooong time. I'm still one of the fastest flyball dogs in the area, and my straight racing career is just beginning!

My day at the races

Mom entered me in the whippet straight races. It was so much fun! there were 51 whippets entered. I won both High Score Veteran (6+years old) and High Score First Time Entry. That's an unusual combo. Mom was so proud! She's going to let me race again later this month. I can't wait!

Wow!

I recently got my Flyball Master title, at 7 years old. Mom is so proud, and I'm the fastest dog on the team too!
In other news, I've been going to the dog park a lot lately. Way back when I was maybe 2 years old, I had a horrible experience at a dog park. This dog I was playing chase with accidentally nipped me and ripped a big slash in my skin. Well that hurt! So I started screaming and running, and what could be worse, ALL the dogs in the park then decided to chase me down. I finally got into mom's arms but this mean rottie just kept pulling on me. Mom managed to kick it and it finally let go. And if THAT wasn't bad enough, I had to go to the dreaded vet hospital and get a drain and sutures. I shudder to remember that incident. Well I didn't want anything to do with dogs for a long time. Slowly over the years I've gained my confidence back. I guess the point of this story is that I just hit the mark of complete recovery- for the first time, mom had to scold ME (verbally) for getting too bossy at the dog park!

Finally something for me!

Last night, mom ordered me a brand new coat! It's about time she did something for me, seems like my silly sister gets all the attention lately. The best thing is that I didn't really need a new coat, my old coat is still going strong. The fleece has gotten a little ratty though. I had it made just for me, it's hard to find good coats, let alone one that fits my figure. But mom thought I could use a fresh one since I'm so good. She is always especially impressed with me when I do my big ferocious snarl at the puppy when she gets near me on the couch. That dumb pup comes right up and licks my snarling teeth! Mom KNOWS how bad I want to bite that cutsie head off, but I restrain myself just to please her. The new coat is ordered from the same company that made my old one, and it will have a built-in turtle neck! Mom feels so bad when my teeth chatter. I can't wait!

That new pup has to go!

Why did mom bring this pup home? And why does it think it needs to climb on me all the time? Fortunately mom's camera is dead and "Bullet" does not get a Dogster page. Toooooo bad... I am the queen of the house and I did not authorize any new additions. I'll just take out my anger on the cats. Mom says as long as I don't hurt them, it's ok to "exercise" them. I prefer to exercise the squirrels but they've been hiding from the bad weather. Actually so have I. I want that 90 degree weather again. This cold stuff is no good.
