How it all started

I am still amazed at how many people stop me on the street and say “Oh my goodness! Where did you get those clothes for your dog?” We have been a popular small dog clothing company since 2003 and it still amazes me that so many people haven’t heard of us! Of course there are so many funny pictures circulating of cute dog clothes. These are in fact adorable pictures. A lot of them are of dogs wearing Pure Country Pet Boutique clothes for dogs. We are in over 600 boutiques worldwide, so most likely people own our clothes and don’t even realize it.

In 2003 we purchased little Peanut. A cute tan long haired Chihuahua. She was cold all the time. Constantly shivering and burrowing. When we took her to the vet for her checkup I expressed my concern for her being cold all the time. We did live in Oregon after all. It rained all the time and was cold. The vet said these dogs come from Mexico and actually need a sweater or coat when it is cold. I went to look for a teeny tiny dog sweaterbut they were $100! This was back in 2003 before all the rage hit. So I started to make dog clothes. Everyone commented on how adorable they were. Asking if I would make some for them. So I put some up for sale. That is how this all started. I set out to make dog clothes cheap. Not cheap… but affordable dog clothes. Everything is under $20. So a normal average household can afford to keep their pet warm.

I started out with making peanut a cute dog coat. I wanted them to be girly and comfortable. Then when customers started asking for boy coats. I set off to try to please the male crowd as well. We don’t just sell chihuahua clothes or yorkie clothes. We sell clothes for any breed under 12lbs. Yorkie or Yorkshire Terrier, Shih Tzu, Maltese, Poodle, Lhasa Apso, Chihauhaus, daschunds, Chinese crested, even cats. Little dog clothes. Or we should probably say little pet clothes. Yes Chihuahua clothes is where this all began. But it is branching out to so much more. Expect to see our new designs of doggie clothes in a store near you.

Sunny high of 80 in SoCal

I am so thankful we moved to Southern California a year ago. I can't remember the last time I saw rain. Now I go outside potty so much better. The backyard has sweet smelling fruit trees. I love to sunbathe. Mommy will let me out to potty and she gets frustrated cuz I just lay there and don't want to come in.
