Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: December 31st 1996
Likes: Being in the company of his mom.

Pet-Peeves: Delite won't move out of his way when he wants to go down the hallway. She lays right in the middle of it.

Favorite Toy: His little penguin. :-)

Favorite Food: Pasta with marinara sauce!

Favorite Walk: Anywhere his mom takes him. He loves to be outdoors.

Best Tricks: Kirby doesn't "do" tricks. He says those activities are for monkeys, not little people with fur. :-)

Arrival Story: I remained in communication with Delite's breeder for quite some time after she introduced me to the breed. She encouraged me to get a show prospect puppy from a reputable breeder and begin showing. I wasn't keen on the idea of actually showing although I was keen on the idea of getting a playmate for Delite. I was thumbing through a dog magazine shortly after I brought Delite home and saw a picture of what must have been the cutest Shiba Inu I had ever seen! (Well, aside from Delite of course!) I called the breeders and it turns out that Otomi, the name of the Shiba in the magazine, had a brother! He was a wee pup and had the same Sire and Dam as Otomi, only three years later. I made arrangements to have him shipped from Spring Run, PA and picked him up from the airport on May 12, 1997. He was born on New Year's Eve of 1996. I already had a name picked out which has it's own story. My sister had recently lost a beloved feline to a fast moving vehicle and she was really upset by it. She was calling everyone to tell them about her great cat and said she did not want him to ever be forgotten. I told her that I would name my baby boy Shiba after him, and so his name is Kirby. To this day, her special feline has never been forgotten, and everyone loves my baby boy Kirby.

Bio: Although Kirby's big brother Otomi was the all time winning Shiba in the conformation ring, I chose to discontinue having Kirby shown and decided that he would be more enjoyable as a neutered family member. This decision took 8 long years... It was the best decision I could have made for Kirby, as well as the entire family. He is definitely personality plus and before he was neutered, he showed a side of his personality that was aggressive in nature. Now he goes along happily and seems well adjusted since I had him neutered. I cannot say that this is what is best for all show prospects who show aggressiveness, at least until thorough testing, both medically and behavioral have been exhausted, all of which prove to no avail. However, I am certain that it was for the best in Kirby's circumstance. He also has developed a hypothyroid condition which can also make Shibas cranky... With neutering and thyroid medication, he has adjusted very well in my home. He is the absolute love of my life (right equal with Delite) and we enjoy a lot of mom/pup time together...
